Mechanical Landscapes Exhibition Poster by The View From The North, on Flickr

My local independent bookshop, the delightful Ebb and Flo in Chorley, have agreed to let me use their small exhibition space for a small solo exhibition. It's only 12 photographs, but I've put a lot of work into it, and I'm pretty proud of it now it's up on the walls!

Those who are familiar with my work will maybe recognise some of the images - dark, moody black and white urbex and industrial landscapes. It's not to everyone's tastes, but it does look good when mounted and framed!

I will take some proper ones soon, here's a few quick snaps I took today:

Well done mate! my pictures on any wall (even my own) would make me proud. Well done

Congratulations, there's something really special seeing work properly framed and up on the wall.

Good stuff. I'll try and get over there for a look.

I checked the shop link and was surprised to see the address is where I worked 20 years ago when it was a fishing tackle shop!

Well done!

Looks nice. Capitalise on this.. take shots of the exhibition.. approach a local gallery now and sell the idea on the good response you got from this exhibition.

Start a Facebook event, and hit everyone who may be interested with it. Follow galleries on Twitter, and if any follow you back, they'll see the tweets from the exhibition.

Great stuff David, thanks very much!

Any advice on galleries in the north west that would accept work such as mine, e.g. it's not fine art / contemporary / final year student project / picturesque colour landscapes. I'm not even sure what genre my work falls into, if indeed it needs to?

I've already got a list of local galleries which is pretty long, just wondering where a good place to start would be.....

I finally managed to pop over to Chorley and have a look at Andy's exhibition today. The prints look much better than the pictures do on-line (which shouldn't have been a surprise...), so it was well worth the visit. :) I bought a copy of the brochure too.

On until the end of the month in case anyone's not visited yet. Then I believe there's another photography exhibition due.

The shop's been tidied up and cleaned a bit since I worked there!

Thanks for having a look Ed, glad you liked it:) As you say, it's on until the end of the month as there was a gap between the original end date and the next one exhibition.

It's interesting how things have worked out, as a former workmate of mine went to see the exhibition after I advertised it on Facebook, and he recommended it to the manager of a museum he knows. They have contacted me and we have agreed to hold my next exhibition in the museum, which while not an art gallery, is still a pretty big museum and shall we say rather appropriate given the subject matter I shoot. More details to come soon.........

:)

I'd bookmarked the shop's info page earlier. I thought I'd missed the boat but when I clicked on the link a couple of days ago before deleting it I saw the exhibition was still on, so got off my arse! Good luck with the next exhibition.

Congratulations  I Will have a look on the pc as viewing on a smartphone and even on this it all look great.

Congratulations!
Great achievement.

Hi Andy

Looks like a nice clean viewing space.....................but seems that visitors have to "visit" the room in that there is no natural footfall.

Oh, are those frames Ikea Ribba???

That's right, it is an upstairs room, doesn't seem to have deterred visitors though, there's always been someone up there when I've popped in. TBH, I have publicised it heavily through a number of different channels.

And no they're not ikea frames, I had them custom made, not exactly the cheapest of options but at least I know they will last......

I see a fluorescent ceiling light and a seemingly unshaded window - how did that work out as lighting?
