i have been looking aroung for my first DLSR and so far i am torn between the canon EOS 1000D, nikon D60 an the sony alpha 200. i have held all these cameras and they all feel comfortable, could you give me any advice and any website that sell a cheap canon 400D for under £320 because i would get that one if i could find it.

Hi, I'm new here and looking for some advice please.
I'm getting my first DLSR at Christmas but I dont know which one to get. I have a budget of around £300-£350 and I've have been looking at the sony a200 but is the D60 or D40 better? Is the a300 worth getting or maybe the E-420?

Welcome to the forum Mastetrinity.

The usual advice would be to go to a shop and get a feel of the different bodies in your price range and then come back and ask about which would suit your style of photography and proposed subject matter.

I'm sorry, I can't help you further with your options....I'm a Canon man myself.

the A300 is basically the same camera as the A200,but with the A300 having liveview with the tilting screen, which can be useful if you want those low down shots without having to get down on your front to look through the viewfinder,or if you cannot see over someone/something in front of you.the A350 is the same as the A300,but having a greater resolution(14.2MP as opposed to 10.2MP).all are very good cameras, including the offerings from canon, nikon, olympus etc etc.....but canon have the best lens catalougue, with nikon probably 2nd.an advantage of having a sony is that you can use the konica minolta range of lens, which can be bought on e-bay relatively cheaply, although the prices are on the increase due to the growing popularity of the sony alpha range...

good luck in deciding

i'm thinking of the a350 with best price i've seen with the kit lens 18-70 for £400
