Hi guys, this is my first attempt at some wildlife photography. I went out this morning with the intention of photographing some squirrels. Unfortunately, the squirrels weren't cooperating and, after a few hours of waiting, I packed up for home.

Just as I got into the car, this little guy came over for a look. Any critique or advice would be gratefully recieved.

Canon 600D with 70-300 Tamron lens.

Nice shot, those robins can be friendly little creatures :)

Ooh I like the second one much better, colours seem a bit more vivid and its a more flattering angle for the bird :)

Very good for a first attempt. I prefer the second shot for the added colour and the detail in the wings

Number 2 is much better imo. Good focus and nice bokeh. Keep up the good work.

Thanks everyone for taking the trouble to post. I actually preferred the first picture originally, but I can see what some are saying about the colours - the robin's breast is so much brighter in the second.

Could a little tweaking (with the saturation maybe?) improve the first one to bring out the colours slightly better.

The little fella must have modelled before, he was jumping from branch to branch, as if to give me as many angles to shoot from as he could! :)

Like I said in my original post, that was my first time out. I'm hoping to get out again tomorrow for a while, weather permitting - and I have to say, I really can't wait!!

Who'd have thought this photography lark could be so much fun? :D

Thanks again folks.

Jonathan.
