A few weeks ago I bought a lens off ebay and used it a few times but realised it wasn't going to get much use, so popped it back on ebay and sold it.
It arrived non working so I did the honourable thing and paid the gent back his money straight away, I then emailed RM about the issue and showed them proof of sale and postage and some details of how long I had owned the lens (days) and some sample shots proving the lens worked fine, I was only hoping to claim back all the postage and told them this in the emails.
I got home today to a letter off RM and a very nice apology AND a cheque for the full amount including all the postage, a nice accompanying letter too.

Faith in big companies restored :)

Well that's nice news, I take it that you must have paid the appropriate insurance for when you posted the lens to end up with a result like this (y)

Next day special delivery includes £500 compensation in price

Very good news and it seems without any hassle as well...

Good news indeed!

On the whole I have few issues with Royal Mail posting or receiving for goods here and overseas. My only bugbear is when an item is deemed as lost and they pay you the value in stamps. I didn't pay in stamps!

It was sent 1st class recorded, I wasn't expecting the whole amount and as stated would have been happy with just the postage back.

It may sound odd but as we do post loads of stickers out I think stamps would have been appreciated here haha

They have definitely got better of late with regards to making claims, In previous years I've had short shrift off them but since they've introduced the online claim process things have improved no end.

Can't say the same for business claims. You have to use an excel spreadsheet that needs macros enabled to run. Most of the time it doesn't work and spits out all sorts of errors. If you eventually get it filled in you have to email it to the claims team who may or may not respond within 14 days. If your claim is approved they may or may not actually credit your account.
