My Experience with Dixons

I Brought a Blu-Ray player from Dixons. 5 Minutes after ordering realized I had purchased the wrong one so went though the cancellation process. After receiving nothing after about 4 hours I phoned them and cancelled directly and they said "Yep that's no problem it's been cancelled"

Not surprising the next day they phoned and told me (in regards to my e-mail to cancel) they told me they couldn't cancel it as it had already gone to the warehouse (so the order hadn't been cancelled). When it got here I got them to collect it at their cost for a refund. Other than that the service was ok.

I had a post here saying that Benners was pretty much correct, but adding that I think bad (or good) customer service is a reflection of management priorities.

I went on to tell a story about the only other time I remember having a complaint, and how it was resolved. It was fairly long.

Long enough that the forum logged me out and I lost my post. By then Flash had posted, so I replied to him instead. Perhaps I'll post that story another time.

Then I decided to go and do something fun with my evening. But I thought I should acknowledge Benners first. Hi, Benners! :)

i totally agree, i think the level of customer service is generally a fair gauge of the bigger picture (management, policies, etc.)

i don't even think that it takes hindsight to show what they SHOULD have done in the first place is say either a) sorry we're out of stock, sale's ended, here's your money back ... or b) whenever we get more stock, we'll honour the sale at the reduced price, even if stock takes 3 months (at least then you'd have the option to get a refund and it's YOUR choice).

but sadly it seems you're not going to be getting your camera at the price you wanted... so taking the issue further and higher up the management scale, is entirely your choice about how arsed you can be about it!

for what it's worth, i'm going to take my Office Shoes complaint as far as I can until I get the outcome I want (which is vouchers to spend instead of a measly discount on a future order!)

Many years ago I bought my first proper camera, a Pentax ME super from Dixons at Basingstoke
It went wrong so I took it back to the shop for repair under the warranty
After a week or so I went back and they said it was not fixed yet
After a few more weeks I had heard nothing so went back again
He bent down and got my camera from under the counter and said "is this it" I said "yes" he then said "Its has not been sent away yet" !!!
That was the last time that I bought anything from Dixons
Pete

you'd have probably had better service and less hassle buying it off ebay than dixons
