digital have a crop factor of about 1.5 so a 250mm focal length is equiv to 375mm on a full frame camera (and old fashioned type ones)

Whitebalance: Manual
There are various white balance settings from different types of light... and you can do your own one too which is called custom. Auto does a good job but manual I think means it has been set to one of these others .... ie, daylight, cloudy etc etc

Metering Mode: matrix
Matrix metering takes lots of tiny parts of the scene and meters from those.. it is a very good general way of metering but not foolproof and can be fooled by a strong backlight... or spotlight etc.

No you're not!!! :D:lol::nono:

Definitely stupid - forgot I had asked this question :cuckoo::lol::lol::lol:

Thanks very much for answering though :D

Quite simply ( i hope)
The focal length if your lens was at 250mm when you took the picture. 375 would be the equivelant on a full frame or 35mm film camera.
Your camera is set manualy for the white balance rather than letting the camera work it out for itself.
I'm guessing your using a Nikon which has a metering mode called matrix (how it works out the correct exposure settings for you picture).
Hope that helps

Cheers. It was a minolta though. Best put it on the thing that AWB then until I get a bit more used to it, no?

Well done Janice!.... bravo :clap:
