This is my beautiful daughter. 50% Thai as you may recognise.
Captured by hillwalkinggirl and edited I am sorry to say rather badly by me.
We have noticed before that she has a slight squint, but it is especially noticable in this image we think. We do intend to check it out with a specialist, but comments are welcome from any medical professionals who may visit this part of the forum.

Many thanks

sorry I forgot to include the image in the first post!!!

What ruins it for me is the background (too busy), the stark shadow from her nose, and she isnt even smiling :(

And a squint? I cant see a squint :)

thanks Betty, but the image is not intended for artistic presentation, but only
for comments on her eyes. Your observation is appreciated however.

Oh, I must have misunderstood. Why did you post in the People and Portrait section of a photography forum then? :D

I'm no medical professional but she does have a slight squint, whether or not it needs attention is another matter.

As far as placement in the forum is concerned as it's not really a request for critique I'm going to have to move it. Ironically the only appropriate section is Out of focus, no pun intended I assure you.

I think its lovely photo, and I bet you are very proud of her and rightly so, definitely a keeper for the album, for me, it does have a busy background and some show problems, still a lovely image  you live and learn watch for strong shows in future, I think if you got her to turn slightly to her left and re position yourself youd be on a winner

She's very beautiful and you must be really proud of her.

As to the squint - I'm no expert but I remember one of my children having a suspected squint and having several check-ups as a toddler. I think he was about 6 years old when he was given the all clear and the specialist said when children have widely spaced eyes (as your little girl has) it can look like a squint but as the face grows the relative distance between the eyes is reduced and all is well. It's worth getting a check up though, if only to put your minds at rest.

btw - look forward to seeing more of this gorgeous little girl in your posts - she's very photogenic. :)

hmmm, well....and this is in no way a criticism of HWGirls photography, but I don't think that's the best photo I've ever seen to judge squints.
Infact I'm un-decided as to whether she actually has a squint, such is the lighting.
I'm saying that I can't tell she has a squint from this photo, which is a long way from "especially noticeable".
You need a straight on full face lighting shot to get a proper look.
If you are worried about it, its always better to get it checked out by the pro's.
btw...she is beautiful.

Hi Dave, photo was taken by me just to test the focus on Petes lens and not as a keeper. I must say that I have never noticed any squint, she has the most beautiful eyes, and Pete has got a really stunning model there.

thanks for all the comments. Sorry that the post may have been inappropriately placed. and yes HWG was just testing the lens. There was no setting up of the subject. Sorry Barbera if I slightly tarnished your reputation, but the image was one we will keep regardless of the busy background and lack of a smile. :|

I didn't notice a squint either, ahe is a very beautiful young lady!

I have had a squint (lazy eye) since i was a toddler, it can be corrected/improved with wearing glasses. I am sure it is nothing to worry about. A visit to a good optician will put your mind at rest i'm sure, x

My youngest has a squint. It can be corrected with glasses so I've been told. Were waiting for an appointment at mo.

Lots of young un's have it apparantly.

You'll notice my lads is very prominent. I wouldn't worry too much....

no offence, but a medical forum or actually going to see a doctor would be a far more sensible place to ask about squints.
if i was a young girl and my parents were posting pics of me on a photography forum asking about my squint i dont think i would be too impressed!

maybe thats just me

PS i cant see a squint, she looks perfectly photogenic (isnt it crazy that in this day and age i felt i had to be really careful what i wrote there!)
