Arrived today. Somewhat smaller than I remember when I played with one a few months back, but still feels nicer in the hand than the E-420.
Whilst some people may regard the move from an Olympus E-420 to the Nikon D40 as a sideways, or possibly even backwards step, for me it's a leg up into the Nikon system. As good as Oly are, the glass is pricey, it's harder to find bits for (and usually much more expensive), and the sensor is tiny. By moving to the D40 I've lost 4mp, but gained a bigger sensor, a trade off that I'm happy with. I've just ordered a grip for it (fleabay) and it'll be going in studio next Sunday. Having had a play I'm chuffed so far! And only 90 minute charging time too, which is pleasant.
Still not read the book so I'm sure I'll probably find I can do that.
