Hey guys.

Here is my current setup.

Camera
Canon 1000D

Lenses
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS Lens
Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II
Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III Lens

I'm dabbing at a bit of everything at the minute, love taking shots of landscapes but also like to have the freedom of a casual everyday lens.

Any tips for a beginner, or anything that a beginner must-have in their bag?

Thanks,
James

Replace the 75-300 with the EF-S 55-250.
Get a tripod.
Add the 50/1.8 (someone is going to say it, might as well be me!)

Those would be my top 3 tips for you without spending a lot of money and having a good general use setup.

Ive been reading a lot of people say that the 'nifty fifty' is a must have. I just got the 75-300 for an absolute bargain yesterday.

I have a tripod, was including the essentials before the accessories.

I agree with vaizki, except I would add "get a flash (430EX II)" and put it right under getting the 55-250.

Also there is no such thing as a bargain on the 75-300. It is that bad.

I can get my money back on the 75-300, I was speaking bargain in comparison to the current RRP.

My sister bought me the Yongnuo Speedlite YN560, I havent used it yet tho. No idea what to expect, havent used a flash other than whats on the camera.

I would probably be better going for the 55-250 before i get the 50/1.8.
