As I get older (nearly 80yrs old now) some of my DSLR camera equipment was getting a bit heavy. So recently a rethink on what I can use instead so turned toward getting a four thirds camera.
To this end I have now parted with Nikon having had their camera range from the D70s days onwards up to the D810
so turned to Panasonic having the Panasonic Camcorder and the DC-TZ95 compact.

Now I have now totally left Nikon and own a Panasonic G9 plus a couple of lenses. Next step is to part with the camcorder as it is getting a bit heavy for me now as well. Wex have offered me a good price in P/X so that is where it is going. Not all is lost as I intend to get the Panasonic G9ii version . I already have to G9 original and the new version appears to do what I want. This is after a lot of thought and research as parting with any camera equipment is like saying goodbye to an old friend.

Some years ago I had to send a Nikon camera back for repairs (dropped it) and being without a camera for a few weeks made me realise getting a second backup camera is the way to go. Hence getting The G9ii Panasonic camera and both can share lenses.

So that is me and photography equipment up to date. It has been quite a journey over many many years from the Brownie 127 days and the Voightlander Vito CL. From the Panasonic HC-X900m camcorder. to a Sony AX53 camcorder to the Panasonic HC-X1500 now going .

The G9ii is a great camera. The Hybrid PDAF system on the G9ii is streets ahead of the contract detect AF on the original G9, I think you'll be pleased.
 
Never had an MFT camera, but I had a couple of Panasonic bridge cameras and they were excellent (and really comfortable to hold, as well). Congratulations on making a sensible choice, there are plenty of people who would hold on to their old gear "just because", and end up taking fewer photos as a result. Enjoy your new gear!
 
With the advent of good noise reduction software I don't think you'll miss the FF Nikon too much.

If you're a landscaper you'll enjoy the increased depth of field too.

I've certainly not looked back since going back to Olympus from a Sony FF body.
 
I went down the route of Olympus about 6 years ago after heart failure limited my weight carrying ability. Have I regretted it not one little bit and my results keep getting better
 
I think that with the SLR style MFT cameras lens choice is very important as the bodies are basically the same size as FF cameras so if you want a smaller lighter system the lenses are what's going to make the difference. If you can manage with just primes you'll save yourself more bulk and weight.

The main things are that you can manage and that you enjoy yourself :D

Are you sure about that? To replace a 24-70 zoom, I'd want AT LEAST a 24, 35, 50 and 70 with possibly a 28 in there too. Yes, it reduces the weight of the camera and fitted lens but not the bag!

my Panasonic four thirds lens the 12-60mm is the same 24-120 mm in FF, but a lot smaller and lighter with image stabilization working conjunctions with the camera one.
