My long saga of moaning at bt is over fibre is now up and running
we have gone from .9 down and .3 up to this

this speed test was from my wireless laptop will test the speed on ethernet cable later

I get 17-18MB on copper cable although I am pretty much sitting on the exchange (0.9km :lol: )

Would definitely love that upload speed though!
 
I am on 50 year old copper and a fair few miles from the exchange
just plugged the ethernet cable in the lap top and we now have this

I love BT Infinity (w/ free upgrade to Infinity 2):clap:

Was down in the sub 1Mb/s range before
 
I only got the 40 meg package as line tests showed 32 meg max speed
have you got the 70 meg package Jon
 
I think I need BT infinity in my life!!!!
 
BT have just upgraded my line (apparently) and I'm now able to "enjoy" speeds of 3.5Mb/s. Wow.
 
I've just had a sales call about this, it seems that they want £35 pcm:(

Nice to have, but not worth that much to me.
 
I got 38mb on infinity 1 upgraded to infinity 2 and got 45mb :( Everyone was telling me that BT are massively underestimating speed test but obviously not because I'm bang on the estimate Little disappointed but I suppose I'm still downloading faster than most.
 


looks like we're almost identical. I'm just happy I've got broadband though, over a year in this house without it; didn't want to spend the money for a bit and several providers also said my address didn't exist :shrug:

The whole town is probably like this anyway, we are on ancient tech here, only got broadband in 2006 I think it was.

The thing that really matters though is ping and jitter, i.e., how stable your connection is. thankfully this one seems steady and lets me play online without too much fuss.

A ping of 3ms is unreal, I've seen worse than that on internal LANs, albeit large and congested ones, but still. Barney is your router inside the Exchange?!
