My best lens ... and why

My first thought was best lens for what?

Spot on. My thoughts exactly. I have ten lenses and there is no "best" lens amongst them. There is only a best lens for a job, and that changes depending on what the job is.

My most used lens is my 100-400, but that doesn't make it a very good lens for weddings, indoor sport, landscapes, macro etc. etc..

Got to be my canon 600mm f4 for the simple reason that I don't use anything else :-)

Nikon 85mm 1.8G. My newest and favourite. Fast, sharp, just the dog's IMO.

I like the tamron 17-50mm as its light and a good upgrade from the kit lens on the D90. Would love to have more cash for other lenses tho, I guess everyone has upgraditis to fill gaps in their collection

My best lens is my Sigma 85mm 1.4.....because it's ********* awesome!

Well I use my Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 the most due to what I shoot and I really like it.

That said I love my Nikon 50 f/1.4 but don't really get much chance to use it

Rather conventionally, my favourite lens is the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8. I just love it's image quality and sharpness even at fully open aperture.

Thanks to Gramps for parting with it

I have a few lenses for my Canon 40D but my favourite is the Sigma 17-70mm non-IS. Not because it is the sharpest, fastest, longest zoom etc but because I find it to be a great all round lens for all situations and produces great photos.

One I seem to use the most since purchasing it about three weeks ago
is my Sigma 150 - 500, so I guess that makes it my favourite at present.
