Yes
I thought get a DSLR & I'll be happy with a bag, spare battery, screen protector & perhaps filter but why is my wish list grown beyond 10 items in only one week

Maybe I should grow older more quickly & like the Queen have two birthdays every year :)

The condition you're suffering is known as GAS - gear acquisition syndrome. That's how it goes with a technical hobby that depends on equipment. If you have only a single hobby of this type then consider yourself lucky.

A little tip... always stay logged in... use the "One-click" buy and Voila! No growing wish list anymore!

......and don't forget to keep an eye on the classified ads here, will save you some £££'s and speed up shortening your list.

Happy hunting,
Mike

PS think I'm needing to get GRS - Gear Rationalisation Syndrome - for 2014, and weed out some of the seldom / never used kit that I bought !!!

Enjoy your new DSLR and as others have said, welcome to having no money and there always being something you want :D

I get serious GAS problems from time to time. I had it this week and ended up part exing one lens and some serious pocket change for another lens, but I'm exceedingly thrilled with my GAS problem this week. It does tend to have a serious detrimental effect on your wallet from time to time. I'm thinking maybe I'll get another bout of it in about 2 or 3 months time.

When I first joined the forum & kept reading the word GAS I really didn't know what the heck folks were babbling on about - but Google (as always) helped me out. Shame you can't Google for a cure for GAS but then some folks like it & don't want a cure :)

Getting a entry level DSLR was an impending nightmare financially for me last Christmas !!

In 2013 I upgraded the body, bought a decent tripod, a Lee filter kit including CPL and BS, 3 Lowepro camera bags, a Sigma 10-20, a Tamron 17-50, Tamron 70-300, Nikon 35mm, flash unit plus a few hundred quid on new outdoor clothing

I will NOT be buying anything else now till I go full frame in a year or two but that's another impending financial nightmare !!!!!

Not buying anything else is famous last words lol

Welcome the the world of DSLRs DayDreamer. Cannot disagree with what others have said. With this hobby, there will always be something that you'll need and once you get good at a particular genre you'll want to upgrade your equipment.

Good luck and best wishes with GAS lol

I say that after every purchase I sneak past the wife.

She was having a chat with her sister and the subject of the BiL's guitar spending habits came up. To quote SWMBO "if he spent a grand on a lens without consulting me. I'd kill him" good job she doesn't know anything about photography or values, my 70-200 VC only cost a couple of hundred :p

No, just stop reading this forum...! Too many 'good ideas'.

Have I seen that guitar before (while I was setting up a new, metallic green guitar on the kitchen table)? The year before I received a birthday card with the question 'Can you ever have too many guitars?' on it, and the following birthday another card with a picture of that guitar and the title 'Apparently not' above it.

Some guys only buy guitars in one colour for this reason.

It's been under control for some time now, and it's very hard to find an instrument I can justify to myself that's actually worth owning alongside those I already own.

I think it would be easier to list the forum members on here who don't suffer GAS. For me the classifieds section on here is an issue, it's much easier for my brain the 'justify' buying it as it's such good value well looked after kit.

Dam you TP, you have ruined my bank balance.
