My 52 week 18 added

Well what can i say.......it's CANDID

It certainly is! The poor little beggar looks a little scared! Agree with others about the focus, but still a nice moment to capture. :)

Well this is my image for PRODUCE!

This works in two ways...1 showing fruit that is produce and 2 me messing with the image to produce a painted effect.

Ah the power of photoshop filters...

On theme in both ways! Nice shot

Candid made me laugh at the expression.

sorry but produce doesn't do it for me. I can see where yuo are coming from - but for me, far too "blocky" - i.e. a finer effect may have produced something more pleasing?

Each to their own though.

It works for both counts for the theme, but I'm afraid, I have to agree with Lynton here... it's a bit blocky for my liking... what does the unfiltered version look like ?

Not for me - sorry gives me a headache looking at it, I seem to spend all my time getting my images sharp perhaps I should put a few of mine on here as they look like this.

Sorry  nice idea though.

Win some - loose some!

Hi Paul, A bit of a catch up from me!

Chemistry: Well done on getting the lighting balanced and how you envisaged it. I don't mind the two herb jars being together, but what does niggle slightly (here comes the OCD attack!) is the two green tops with the hinge side showing. Sorry! ;)

Candid: Yes, poor lad does look a little worried - but that's what candids are all about imho, catching people unwares. I agree with the comments on the focus, but it's still a lovely candid. :)

Produce: Those sliders can be irresistable, can't they! I can see what you were aiming for, but perhaps as Lynton said, less is more. :) I like the colours and composition.

Jean

This definitely works for the theme on both counts.
Nicely composed, good range of colours and I like the black foreground / white background combo.

I know that this is awful coming from me considering what I submitted this week :$: . . . but I have to agree that the PP is just a bit overdone.
What I find works well with this kind of filter is if you apply it to a new layer and then reduce the opacity to let some of the original photo show through.

hi all...it's catch up time for me. what with computer problems and then going on holiday postinf was suspended.

but better late than never !!!!!!!!

week 13 i decided on a reshoot of "candid" so here it is.

Week 14 shoot....took a long time to think about this but in the end i decided on this..... not the best shot in the world but it fits....

This is my one for SINGLE.

Again not the most interesting of image but i like it and i hope you do too

Hey Paul, sorry missed your thread.

Some nice shots in here, very real feel to them ;)

Especially like the candid footballer, that tongue sticking out showing the effort and concentration, so funny.

Agree with Allan, either a shallower DOF of consider burning your background down a bit to make the daisy 'pop'. Having said that your 'style' seems to be real shots so maybe not!?

Good work so far ;)

Hi Paul,

Missed your last couple sorry.

I love your reshoot of candid.
Nice texture in the sand, great colours and a lovely expression on his face. It's unfortunate that there's that line of seaweed / rocks? just above his head - maybe try cropping that little bit out

Shoot is bang on theme. Good bit of action and again his expression is absolutely priceless.

Single : That daisy is fantastic
So sharp and it jumps right out of the image at you.
I'd have to agree with Allan and Dade though on wanting a slightly shallower DoF.

hi all. This is STARE!!!!!

This was taken in low light at about 7 at night so i appologise for the noisey image but thought that this fits the subject quite well.

Single works well mate but as others have said a blur on the background would have improved it a bit. Also the daisy could do with being positioned off centre. Bang on theme though.

Stare is also right on theme. Doesn't look too noisy on my works monitor.

Andy

It's a bit of a care bear stare from the lambs, but it's nicely spotted and composed. Looks to me as though it needs a slight increase of exposure, but only a little.

thanks for all the comments. i know what you mean about the exposure maybe will try and give it a little tweek.

did not want to go to far with it as i would like to try and keep some of the contrast detail in the wool.

Single: I think everyone has said everything about this. DoF and composition (would have like to have seen the daisy off-centre). Otherwise it's a nice straightforward flower portrait and I like it.

I also like "Stare". I like the way the animals are standing and it works well. Looks a little soft on my laptop but I say that about a lot of images, so it could easily be my screen.

Ian.

Oh, and btw - page 1 shows you still on week 15. Might want to update that!

Ian.

week 17......Peace

This was taken in the autumn so maybe a bit of a cheat really but i like it and it says peace

4183948951_85c540e9aa_o.jpg

Single is bang on, the daisy is excellent, but it needs a bit less DOF to hide away the background a bit more...

Stare, spot on for the theme  it doesn't look noisy to me.

Peace, I can see why you like it, the colours are good and strong. It looks a peaceful place, as it should be. Not sure on the fence through the middle... it's the top board... the rest is covered in plantlife and sort of hidden...

Lovely colours running through this, and I have to say, it looked to me as though those 2 crosses in the middle of the shot were robed monks squaring up for a fight. Must... stop... eating... paint...

Strong composition and nice contrasting colours.

Works very well, and the churchyard is clearly peaceful.

Ian.

Peace. great, warm, autumnal colours and certainly peaceful.

Stare is lovely - bang on for theme and very cute. It doesn't look at all noisy on my monitor either.

Now John's really confused me on peace. I've looked and looked and I can't see any fence running through the middle
That suggests that either either I'm not finding it the least bit distracting or you've changed the photo.

Sorry - I take that back. I do see the fence. I think I've been eating Ian's paint
Initially I thought I was looking at more gravestones side-on and that the horizontal pieces were fallen stones. Funny how your mind plays tricks on you and let's you see what you were expecting to see, not what's actually there.

Lovely colours in this one. At first glance I thought it was a bit oversaturated but looking again (while trying to see the fence) it's actually really grown on me.
My only critique would be on the DoF. Everything feels pretty evenly in focus to me and I'm struggling to work out what the focal point is and where I should be looking.

Well this is INDULGENCE.......

Yummmmmmmmm I can't agree more melted cadbury's in tea (or coffee)
Great

well i am quite fortunate and i dont have to worry about my waistline !!!!

I've been staring at this for a full minute waiting for the chocolate to melt.

Not sure what anyone else thinks, as this is subjective rather than right/wrong, but I'd like to see more sharpness on the rim of the cup. The "Cadburys" etched into the chocolate is obviously your focal point (and is spot on sharp), but the blurred cup edge keeps distracting me. Probably just me though!

Ian.

I really like this . . . although the thought of dipping chocolate in tea/coffee is a bit :puke: for me!!!!

As Ian said, it's totally subjective, but I really like the focus being on the chocolate rather than the mug.
For me that's the main part of the image. It's sharp, the Cadbury's logo is perfectly defined and it takes my eye to exactly where it needs to be.

I can see where Ian's coming from with the distraction though. I think it's more to do with the mug being patterned than the rim being slightly oof.
Because it's a bold black & white pattern, part of me keeps wanting to focus on the mug - maybe a plain one would have worked better?

p.s - This works well for "close" as well as "indulgence"

I think it works very well, and is on theme, although personally dunking chocolate into tea/coffee is outrageous and shouldn't be allowed... ruins the chocie :D...

I'm with Sarah, the focus being on the chocolate works great, and I can see how the mug could be a bit distracting, the pattern is very strong on it.
