My 52 week 18 added

An excellent idea and take on the theme... just needs a little tweak as has been suggested to make it better. Well done

Thanks for all the comments guys. All taken on board and maybe if we get a reshoot will do one of them

Anyway here is week 7......People.

These are my "little" People...Taken today.

Week 7 - Great shot and lovely colours! Spot on WB!

 Aww that’s really sweet Paul and I’m just a bit jealous that you’ve still got snow.

You’ve captured absolutely brilliant expressions on their faces and there are some great colours in there.
I wonder if you really need that much open space above their heads though? Might be worth trying a tighter crop and seeing if you can lose the fence in the background.

Well done Paul, an excellent image of the little ones and on theme.

Bit of a catch up! :)

Street: A good bit of lateral thinking.

Speed: I love the effect of speed you've created.:clap::clap: I'm not a good traveller - and this is how it feels for me speeding down a narrow lane with trees and hedges wizzing by. Excuse me while I find the travel sick pills. :D

Present: I do get the connection - invitations to parties lead to presents being bought and given, but I think if I'd thought of this (typical that I didn't ) I'd have done a 'thank you for the present' version. A bit of a crowbar one, Paul, but still a neat idea. :)

People: Oh - excellent. What brilliant expressions you've caught - two kids enjoying the snow. Good use of dof, the lighting's spot on and the red sledge adds a bit of colour. If these are your youngsters I hope you're going to get this one printed large.:clap::clap:

Jean

Thanks for all your comments, and to jean....yes they are mine. My 2 eldest and yes i am having it large and on the wall...

hi everyone. Well this is my mechanical....not the image that i really wanted but due to weather could not get the light :bang::bang::bang:

Anyway decided to go with this instead......

I'm sure you'll get lots of compliments - on both the children and the photo. :)

Mechanical: A good interpretation of the theme and well captured. I like the dof and the way you've controlled the highlights. It may not have been what you wanted but it's still a good'un. :)

Jean

I'm amazed at the detail on the edge of the blade. And all the food residue just makes me want to dunk it in the wash basin! ;)

You've captured the detail well and avoided blowing too many highlights. Think it needs a scrub though

Speed, excellent, best in-car moving-type shot this year for me.

Present. Hmm, I think it more fits "Future" to be honest, colours are well taken though, nice and bright as befits the subject.

People is a very good capture, I'd be dead chuffed if it were mine.

Mechanical is technically very good, metal is a bitch to get right at the best of times - when you got all sorts of angles as well it makes it even harder to get away with no burnout. Nice composition and focal point too - seems to highlight and accentuate the cutters.

this is an old set i found in the garage......yes a bit mucky i know but hey....it adds to the pic i think.

I'm obviously a bit slow on the uptake because it took me a while to work out what it was :bonk:
It might not be what you planned, but this has still worked well

Nice detail and very good control of the reflections.
I don't think that the crop is quite there. I'd like to see it either a bit wider to bring some more space in or even tighter on the wheels - that doesn't take it away from it being a good shot though, I just think it would give it a bit more impact.

It's worked very well... good details and lighting... but all that old food caught in there ...:gag:

On theme, and it's a good shot.

I had to think a while to suss what it was :) nicely focused..

gorgeous photo of your kids.. looks like they were having a lot of fun in the snow!

At Play..............hope this counts....

It says play very well Paul.

The only slight thing I could raise is that it may have lifted it a bit with some fill-in flash. This would have lessened the shadows from the bars and put some light in the eyes.

Luckily you have kids that still want to have photos taken. Mine all protest when I point the camera at them.

Definitely says play. Colours are good but the face seems to be very soft which is a shame.

Ooo I remember doing that! Excellent pic, sunny, happy, youthful... got enough for me easily to

Arthur

Yep - I'd say that definitely counts.
It's a real feel good shot that instantly brought a smile to my face :)
Strong colours and a good composition add to the appeal too.

I'd like to see a bit more light in the eyes. However the emotional impact far outweighs any technical niggles for me. I really do like this.

well week 10 for me. A slightly different take on the subject......

Cooking Chemistry.

I do like to cook and getting the taste right is very important so the mixing of herbs and spices to me is about getting the "Chemistry" right.

Taking this picture made me use my imagination quite a bit on the lighting side of things. I wanted to try and eliminate the shadows so by using spot lights in the kitchen, bouncing the flash horizontally of a refector to the left and then bouncing it back from another reflector on the right seemed to work.

Photo unavailable?

Ian.

seems to be showing on my screen?
Dont know why your not seeing the image?

Have reloaded it to see if that helps.

Paul, Play works really well... I too remember doing that.

Chemistry is a well thought out, well lit shot. I'm afraid the image isn't really doing a great deal for me though, but my own is so uninspiring... (so I'm not posting it yet)

You've done well to eliminate any shadows, but you have left a few light reflections which are a little irritating. It's clean and well laid out although perhaps just a tiny bit more space around the edges would be nice. It's not the most exciting of images, but it fulfils the brief for the week :)

A really unique take on the theme, not something I would ever have thought of.
You've put a lot of thought into the composition and I really like the pyramid layout - I think I would have arranged it with the 2 green herb jars one on either side to maintain the symmetry, but that's a really minor niggle.

The lighting's worked well and you've eliminated the shadows as you'd planned, so it's a  for that.

All in all it's a very successful shot IMO.

week 11.....Candid.

Well what can i say.......it's CANDID

4444251612_b54d36e213_o.jpg

its a great shot for candid, but it looks to me like the focus is on his arm in the foreground, would have preferred it on his eye/face

Awwwww - is that his first go on the bike, or is it dad hassling him with the camera? he looks ready to cry.

It's a lovely shot though, great colours, good background and nice and clear. If you could have got the focus right on his eye it would have been superb!

An excellent shot for Candid, he does look rather worried, poor little lad. Gotta agree on the focus though... it does look like it's on his arm, not his face.... Sorry

Great candid shot - the look of concentration on the little lads face just captures everyone's experience of learning to ride a bike :)

you can almost see the steam coming out his ears as his brain frys from information overload!

Apart from focus, as said above, it's a great shot. Also, candid photos are by their very nature not technically perfect so you've filled the theme even without planning to!

thanks for all the comments...greatly recieved. well that was kind of the plan especially after reading the description.

Lovely shot, but indeed focus seems to be on the arm. Although I know from experience if you're shooting a moving child with a low f numbe it is incredibly difficult to get the focus right. Still, well done for candid. And the look on his face indeed has "candid" all over :-)
