Yes
well not the best pic i have ever taken but think it fits the theme:thumbs:

Learning........ yes it's me reading the camera instruction manual, learning how things work and also what it can do.

Oh and also learning post processing in making it black and white.

like i said not the best shot ever and in the box this time.

Must say it was quite hard to think of something a bit different and i hope that this gives you all a bit of a laugh:lol::lol::lol:

Good SP :) Its clear and the lighting (natural?) is good!

You've hit the theme and delivered early :)

And learnt something - how far did you get through the manual :D?

yes lighting was natural, Thought that was best . decided in b&w as think it just has that something different about it.
And have already read the manual......not that i needed to as the best way to learn is to just dive in and use the dam thing
cheers for comment glad you like it:woot:

I love the lighting on this, and it's so difficult to get right on a SP, I know

It fits the theme perfectly and I wish my brain/creativity worked as fast as yours. I'm still floundering on this one

Well done:thumbs:

cheers bruja. glaad you like it. nothing like natural light and it took about 10 shots to get it how i liked it.

Good and quick thinking for that one, I'm still in the idea stage .

cheers all thanks for the nice comments

sorry simon. it kind of just came to me.... cheers toothie appreciated.

just looked at this again and seen a few things i am not happy with, can still see the chair i was sat on and not enough DoF. maybe i will take another one

Nice one, I was thinking about doing the same thing. Time to think again lol

Well done Paul, that's a good shot, it's real tough shooting yourself like this and you've done well. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the chair, that bit can always be cloned out if needed. the DOF looks good to me too.

cheers jgs. unfortunately although i have only been here a short time and been taking pics again since november(been taking pics with slr since i was 16!!) i have started to look at my pics in a different way and find faults with everything i take! i suppose its because its digital now and you can see what you take instantly that i am, i think, being a bit harsh on myself and trying to be a perfectionist!!!!

Ah... I know exactly what you mean ;). We are all out own worst critics in a big way....

No, no, no, no I am NOT going down the route of 'a man - reading the instructions' (read in tone of disbelief) :naughty:

Seriously, it's a really pleasing shot. I love the way the light is falling on the lower half of your face and the manual. Blakc and white was a good choice. tbh, I hadn't noticed the chair until you mentioned it!

Good interpretation of the theme, too. :)

Jean

ah jean no need to worry. did not read the instructions!!!! did what all us men do and just jump right in and experiment. bit like flat pack furniture really see how far you get without the instructions and if you get stuck look at the relevent page!

Well it's spot on for this weeks subject...good lighting, as said before not easy to take a SP...

Like the lighting, I'm not keen on artificial and spot on the theme. Nice interpretation.

That could go for Surprise as well :naughty::lol:

Can you put them into one thread though as I'm getting confused :lol::lol::lol:

Hi all, a bit late on this one :( but got there in th end.

This is my youngest Ashton, took quite some effort to get this and am not totally happy with it but given the circumstances and the poor off camera lighting it is all i can do at the moment.

Suprise..... The Magic Box.....

Hope you all like it. it was probably the biggest challenge for me so far due to the lighting and exposure. trying to get a 2 year old to sit still was a night mare so had to up the iso to use a faster shutter speed because i was using a higher f-stop to get a deeper DoF so i could get the box and him in focus.

I like that Paul  very good interpretation. 2 Year olds really don't do still do they ?

Well done. Two year olds usually have to be photographed while they run round in circles. Ashton did very well indeed to sit still and hold something. :)

I love the way the light fall on his face - it's very effective and fits the theme beautifully. If I'm being very, very picky, I'd say crop out the top of the curtain, but I think you've done an excellent job in difficult circumstances. Onward and upward to Week 5.:clap:

Jean

Don't work with children or animals ;) Nicely lit and a good interpretation of the theme. Well done.

This idea just came to me in an instant.

Opposites......Heads and Tails.

This could also have been used for reflection too!!!

That was quick and clever too :) Took me a second to figure it out! Nicely done, neat and simple composition! What is the material behind the coin?

And your surprise is a neat shot too :) the lighting on your lad's face as he opens the box is really effective :) Nice!

material behind the coin is a sheet of black hard board and the reflection is the black work surface in the kitchen.
thanks for the comments darkstar.
really appreciated.

Surprise, I love that image, the light really looks like it is originating out of the box just as he does. I do find the backgrond a bit distracting though but I can ignore that as it works on many levels (it looks like he's from the box ;)).

Opposites, Wow, that was quick, I've not even thought about it yet. Great choice of reflective colour, the copper works very well against the black, however, I think the reflection could be a bit clearer. Given the orientation of the coins was there a reason you chose to shoot and post in landscape?

crikey, can't believe you're done already!! Very nicely done shot indeed

Good one for opposites. I particularly like the 'reflection' being tails. As Simon said I think a sharper reflected coin would increase impact.

did not shoot in landscape just tried to crop it square cause in portrait had too much space top and bottom.

thanks all just happen to have the time to do it at the moment but i wont always be that quick as college course is getting quite busy now.

hi simon just to let you know the light is coming out of the box!!!! fitted a small spot lamp into the box and then lit the front of the box with a second light.

Your quick off the mark Sir...

Loved your surprise shot...don't know how you kept him still long enough.

The two coin are excellent...

Now on my surprise picture I said I would not look at anyone else until I sorted my own idea....so I didn't exspect to see your opposites here..:shake:

So won't be looking at anymore 52s till I've done mine..

I love the lighting in your Surprise shot and what a great kid

I think your opposites shot is a great interpretation of the theme and think it would look even better if it was in portrait format and the tails coin was a little clearer, but that's just my preference. Well done on both of them :clap:

Like the surprise shot very clever idea. I have a 3 year old and know only too well how difficult it can be to get a shot in focus. Love the expression on his face, classic

That was quick thinking for the opposites theme. Only got my surprise shot in today. Good interpretation works well
