My 52 photos - week 6 Special

Took me a minute to appreciate the surprise Andrea, thought I was looking at two different butterflies :D

And wow - what a difference a splay makes!

So I was surprised :) It worked :thumbs:

Yes that's a great illustration of surprise...well done and thought out..:clap:

Too my idle sunday night mind a few moments to register how the suprise works, but now I have I have to say very well done.
And what a stunning looking butterfly, that is a real mesmerising electric blue - nice job.
 
I too thought 2 butterflies, where's the surprise in that - but the penny dropped and what a great interpretation of the theme :clap::clap:

Because I knew the title of the theme I knew there had to be a Surprise in there somewhere (didn't read the caption - duh!) and when it clicked it was brilliant. Couple of great captures, and excellent lateral thinking. :thumbs:

Could also work for opposites!
 
Like the interpretation. Lovely images very nicely presented. Very creative :clap:

His mother didn't seem to have an awful lot of control and in the end I had to leave, either that or decapitate him.

Haven't had a lot of time this week and even less inclination. Too many things going on in my head to give this the concentration it deserved.

However, I have managed a shot. It was a bit of fitting a photo to the theme rather than taking a photo especially but I did only take it last Sunday whilst at the Chinese New Year in Manchester.

It was my first ever attempt at Street Photography, I didn't take many as it took me a while to pluck up the confidence.

So this is my shot for this theme, Opposite Ages.

I like this Andrea, the expression on the face of the old lady is brilliant.

I think you have caught the mood of the crowd very well and as I would not be brave enough yet to do street photography I am impressed that someone else has the nerve to.

A nice clear picture that fits the theme. :clap:
 
I don't know why I can't put my finger on it but I really like this shot...totally natural lighting, the composition is fabulous with the two main characters looking on...:thumbs:
 
I do like this latest. Great candid. A wider aperture to blur out the background and isolate the subject might have improved this, and possibly having it centred nearer to the woman, but otherwise very nice.
 
Good capture the expressions on the subjects' faces are great. Maybe a tighter crop as Simon suggested and useing depth of field as theMatt suggests but still a very nice shot; I like it. :clap:
 
Great take on the theme Andrea and well done for plucking up the nerve to take some candids. It scared the life out of me when I first started but it gets easier - honest :D

I agree with the others on a tighter crop and a shallower depth of field but that doesn't take anything away from the creativity and punch of the capture. :clap:
 
Sorry this post is so late - I'm trying to catch up!

I love your Opposites shot. Well done for braving 'The Street' and well done again for catching such a great expression on the old lady's face. I like the crop as it is - it puts the 2 central figures into context, but a shallower dof would have emphasised them more. But - this was on the street, with no time to think and it's a really excellent shot. I hope it cheered up what sounds like a trying week for you. :clap::clap:

Missed this one! Two opposites: age (of course) and interest!

The little lad looks transfixed while his gran(?) looks as if she'd rather be at home with a cup of tea :)

Cropping this sort of shot is always tricky as you're bound to leave someone cut in half :)

Firstly thank you to everyone for the lovely feedback and suggestions, its really appreciated.

Secondly apologies to all as I haven't even looked at anyone else's week 6 yet and suspect there have been a few weeks 5's I've missed. I have every intention of catching up this week.

Thirdly more apologies as I've cheated and used an old photo for this week. Nothing special has happened to me this week, not that I expected it to and I've been struggling to think of things that are special to me. My head has been completely elsewhere with another of my extra curicular activities which has been giving me problems so I'm afraid that's what my time got dedicated to.

I say that I've struggled to think of something special to me. The truth is my head kept going back to the same thing.

This is my mum and dad taken on holiday in Austria last year. They are extremely special to me. They put up with all my bad traits and we very rarely argue. They took me back in when my relationship went wrong and left me to work through the bad times without trying to take over but being there if I needed them. I'm not sure what would have happened if I hadn't had them to fall back on. I guess it doesn't get much more special than that.

A great picture and a lovely sentiment. :)

On the picture side I love this shot, from the obviously fast moving water, to the wooden walkway to the rocks that take the eye all the way up!

What a lovely story Andrea (and the opposite to mine).

As for the photograph it looks like they are enjoying themselves (plus I know how hard it can be to find time to take a fresh picture every week), but for me it needs something more because, although it illustrates the story, it feels like a holiday snap. Maybe a different crop and a bit of a straighten would make a difference :thinking:

Please don't be offended as I'm sure we'll all have weeks like this and have to make do (I'm very tempted this week as finding a crowd in rural Spain is a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack :D)

I hope this week is better for you :thumbs:
 
Great opposites photograph. Really fits the theme. Lovely candid shot. The womans expression says it all and as a mum I totally sympathise. Holding young uns for a lengthy period is hard work :)

The image of your mum and dad fits the theme perfectly. Don't get more special than parents and children. Thanks for sharing :)
 
Lovely shot for the theme. I have really fond memories of my parents they too were really supportive.:clap:
