crap weather? picking the worst one out the bunch :)

crap weather? picking the worst one out the bunch :)

This is exactly what I wanted for my photo :D I thought it would make a slightly ironic take on the Christmas light since it wasn't actually working

 the 'crap weather' reason was my pick of the three as I thought it was the worst out of the bunch.
Nice shot though and the irony is there :)

We all have day's where we load the photo's up and then look thought them all to find none that you want to use :bang:

I know that feeling sooooooooooo well and I'm only on Day 7 lol - seem to have picked a 'lovely' time of year to start when the weather is crap and I'm busy :(

Be careful we will have you shooting a thousand minimum soon ;) I've found I can find interest sometimes in the most random of places, don't be afraid to try something and fail thought, I started as a learning tool, you should see my first HDR, a pathetic attempt, though that's partially down to the fact I'm a shoot first and if it doesn't work, I'll then go and study kind of guy :D I still haven't touched the manual for my 5D3 and I've had it since April/May :D

hahaha I was asked to do the photos for the Blackpool Tower Northern Soul Night in November. Glenn (partner) works for the promoter and he liked my photos of the other venues - said they were natural and not posed as some of the other photographers that attend seemed to get the dancers to do. I was quite pleased with that comment as I usually stand at the edge of the dance floor or by the stage and take the photos. They dont know Im there half the time. I spent the full weekend (Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night and Sunday afternoon) on the stage - had one dance all weekend :( I got over 1000 shots just on the saturday - worked it all out and I had done about 2500 shots altogether - used about 1200 of them. Took forever to go through them all and edit what I wanted but was happy with most of them :) and so was he. I would rather take loads and go through them (learning from the bad ones) than take a few and then find out most are unusable. One of the photographers (Pro) that go to the venues told me that it was quality that counted NOT quantity. As I told him - I was still learning compared to his 30 years experience. The feedback said it all - mine and his were on Facebook for everyone to see. His got the usual ' nice' comments. Mine were shared and I even got asked for the original a few times as they wanted them as prints. I didnt care that I had taken 1000's ....... I learnt from the mistakes of the bad ones and that will help with the quality in time :)

Wow that's some going, I did a really dark venue at a hotel the other week, and let's just day I was glad I had the 5D3 there were quite a few where I had to run to ISO12800 just to get a decent shutter speed, I did consider hiring a 24/1.4 for the night but didn't in the end and I would have only needed it a dozen or so photo's anyway  you should check out the work of one out esteemed leaders, Brian does a lot of show type photography and his work is stunning

I think I have a couple in my Flickr that were converted to B&W - like that for the dancers as it is more classic for them, goes with the era of the music and the dancing :)
I cannot wait now for this memory card to arrive (tomorrow I hope) and then I know I will be able to do more than I can with the 300D
Just going to look at his work now .....

we are 'sad' aren't we? :D With the 1100D I would have gone and collected it if it meant it got here quicker but I managed to get next day delivery - still tracked its every move though! When I saw it was with the courier I was back and forward to the window every time I heard a car engine lol

Day 353 - RIP Instagram

Just for fun, and with what seems to be the demise of Instagram today I thought I would post a photo as my photo of the day that although I have never used instagram represents what it always seemed to be for me ;) lot's of photo's of other peoples food, I know it was a lot more than that but hey call it artistic licence, this is also the first photo that I've taken entirely on my phone and processed on my phone, using the new flickr app that is actually quite impressive. Don't worry, I don't think there will be a lot of them in the future :(
