Day 187 - A Peaceful Day

Today was really one of those quite days when really nothing happened I had quite a bit to do but no real urge to get it done, anyway I nipped out in the evening to look at a couple of location for up coming photo's and also got this photo for today :D

its a nice location mate - the light is maybe a little flat , but theres not much you could do about that given the current weather - apart from maybe bumping the saturation in post

I likle how the line of the ride is mirrored in the cut grass and collectively draws the viewers eye to the church

I like that too :D the light has been shall we say crap the last few day's hence the very out of this world one yesterday

yep - same here hence the preponderance of domestic macro in my thread.

I've just finished setting up another one to be tommorows - tommorow is looking prety mental and I'm not likely to be on Tp much over the weekend so my thinking is to shoot, process and post one at a few minuites past midnight to cover friday - then i'll shoot post up the shots from the weekend on monday

I've done that a few times if you shoot one just past midnight it effectively gives you the day off from your challenge, sometimes that can be a real god send

Not been on in a while but mixed up world and deja vu are really strong pictures :)

Thanks John, those are both photo's that I was pleased with :D mixed up world was fun simply because it allowed me to work/learn about noise reduction :D

That's a nice view - very English countryside

Thanks Bob the irony of that scene is at it is about 500 yards from the city centre :D but I do agree it could so easily be a picture postcard English Countryside vista

Nice Matt,

Fab lead-ins with the lawn lines, makes it mysterious as you can only see part of the building makes you want to walk down and investigate it.

just personal but I would crop to the bottom of the bush left so it comes from the corner

Day 188 - Partie Deja Vu deux

Ever get that feeling that your stuck on the same old loop :suspect: it's not often that I do photo's of wildlife or animals so I find it ironic that Day 188 last year was a grey garden bird, a pigeon to be precise and today I have done a Dove (Collard Dove) if I'm not mistaken though probably am

What it does show me again is that I need to replace this lens with something a little sharper and a bit longer

Thanks Dave, I do think that your right a little bit could have been lost off the bottom but I was struggling to crop it as I was having difficulty finding a crop that I liked so in the end decided not to bother

It is indeed a Collard Dove

I thought so :D thanks for the conformation :D I really should make more of an effort and when I get around to buying a lens more capable I think that I will :D as we get all sorts into my garden

Day 189 - Sorry...did you say something?

The grey's are very bold in my garden, you can open the door and all they do is look at you...they only run off when you have a camera to hand...:bang:...This is a very heavy crop, but it's not come out too bad :D but it's for this reason that I've decided to buy a Sigma 150-500mm lens it should be a massive improvement over my 70-300mm

Cracking Squirrel Matt, looks fairly good for a crop. Congrats on the new lens! I noticed you were interested as I was having a browse. Look forward to seeing some pics from it.

Thanks Michael, It's deadly I happened to look in classifieds and there it was at the top of the stack so I thought why not :D the silly thing is I only went in to see what 50mm's were avalible as I was fancying the idea of a 50/1.4 :bonk: and ended up spending even more on a totally different lens :D will hopefully have it for the middle to end of next week as I'm going to pay for it on monday

Fatal isn't it :naughty: But worth it!

Oh it really is but I'm sort of looking forward to it, I've never really done much wild life stuff as 300mm just doesn't really cut it but 500mm should make be want to have a go

I know what you mean, I had to make do with my siggy 70-300 for quite a while and year I said I want bigger and better then I finally got my 50-500 at focus for an unbelievable price. It stays on my camera for a big percentage of time now. Just need to concentrate on something with a wide angle.

Well because I've not been happy with the quality of the images from the 70-300 even though it is an EF mount it's hardly ever goes near the 5D3 so it will be nice to make more use of something other than the 24-70

It will also be nice to have a proper go at some wild life etc

Have you got any decent resevoirs or nature reserves around you?

Yeah I've got Draycote Water and Brandon Marsh to name but two of the really good ones :D

That sounds like a good plan  Will have to arrange something. Would be good to meet up again, and will be nice to get somewhere different

Always up for a few hours :D and can normally get a at least one or two others along too  could meet up have few hours shooting and then maybe find a nice local for a bit to eat or drink

Excellent, will have a chat with my brother and see when his days off are and will see if we can arrange something

I'll probably head up your way soon with it too  as I'll be wanting to check how it performs with a bit of aviation photography so that will need a trip to EMA

Not actually had a trip to Ema this year. Closest I got to aviation was the bbc chopper over the olympic torch crowds.

I had a quick run up there a few day's ago but I was late getting there and didn't really get any decent shot's :( there was some really interesting stuff in a few weeks back but couldn't get up there :(

Do they advertise whats coming in anywhere?

No but you can join a private messaging type group/forum on the yahoo network called EMAG (East Midlands Air Group) and then get emails about nearly everything of interest

Day 190 - Going out with a Bang

Well today in the spirit of this challenge I'm posting my first video, this has been fully produced and edited by me, I'm quite pleased with it :D It shows/Documents the explosive Demolition of these former offices in Coventry

When I first took on this challenge way back in the being of 2011 I did so with the intention of learning about my camera new styles and techniques :D video was never something I had considered

Like the video Matt, what software did you use to do the slow mo? Have you done much video with the 5d3?

Thanks Michael, the only software I have for video editing at this time is Microsoft Movie Maker  and I shot in 60fps to allow for a nice smooth slow-mo so far all I've really done is play with the video the only proper stuff that I've done is the little bit I did for the TP Convention and this  I'm quite pleased with this
