Day 161 - Golden Winds

This evening the cloud was wonderful this evening so while busy I really had to make the time to get out and do a ND110 sunset since it's not been an option for a number of weeks :D

Lovely clouds in there Matt, very nice.

Thanks Michael it was the perfect evening up there for this type of photo, the only issue the position of the sunset relative to the windmill :( but nothing I can do about that now till autumn/winter now :(

Matt

Great clouds there, Matt.
I've seen plenty shots of this place in your 365/366s, but I still enjoy seeing new ones :)

Thanks Ben, when ever I do a photo of it I do worry that it's getting stale but it's different every time  as each time the light always changes and I like many of the shots from this year for different reasons so pleased that your still liking to see the odd shot of the windmill in the challenge as I'm sure it will not be the last :D

Matt

I'm a real sucker for a long exposure!

And that is a cracker!

Thanks Simon, it really did come out well  I'm the same normally if I've got the option of making it a long exposure you can be sure that I will :D

Day 162 - It's for you....

This is the next image in my look at changes to communication, the last one showed a post box, well here we have a telephone box, something else that in the age of the mobile phone many people haven't used in years, this one looks like it's one of the under used ones I challenge you to actually get in there for a starter :D

Really like this, Matt.
Great composition!

Thanks Ben, I thought that it worked well and I also then that it worked because the DoF helps to isolate the box further  exactly as planned

Matt

I love it when a plan comes together!
Seriously though, you can't beat that feeling when the image you planned in your mind is exactly the one you get in the camera. :)

Indeed it's brilliant when that happens, I've gotta get my thinking cap on for the next one in the communication series but that's not going to be for a few days anyway

Matt

Day 163 - Here today, gone ......... :suspect:

With all of the talk if country's possibly leaving the Euro and maybe even the failure of the entire currency I though that I should take a photo of some before it gone

Busby Box in all that overgrown weeds !!!

Indeed :D

Golden Winds is excellent Matt !!!

Is that a windmill/water-tower ??

I have not seen one like that before, looks like it has legs and is walking across the screen

It's a windmill but indeed it is a very unusual design I cannot say that I've ever seen one quite like it anywhere out  glad you like it  as it happens that's the one that Lynton tried to set on fire :naughty:

Matt

Indeed :D

Like this one Matt, made me chuckle.

Day 164 - In Training....

I was out on the hunt for a decent display of poppies this afternoon but got a little lost :( but what I did find this wonderful view of the River Severn near Stourport-on-Severn for me this scene was just completed when I saw the rowing team come round the bend in the river :D

I love the Macro coin numbers: that's a great concept and really well executed. And I agree with Manc Man, the phone box is a cracker as well.

Thanks Tony, I glad you liked the coin numbers :D always good when some other that me likes stuff like that :suspect: I also pleased that your liking the phonebox that one did come out well :D and worth stinging my ankle :cuckoo:

Matt

The coin one just goes to show how good your lens is - at first I thought they were house numbers or something of that size!

It also shows how useful a £8 set of manual extension tubes :D

The rowers certainly make it, a nice bit of light on the top too. Did you find any poppy fields?

Indeed Michael the rowers and the light is what makes that one a winner for me, I have another air ambulance one for today's photo but I've not edited it yet as I've only just got in, I know where there is a good location but I've not actually found it yet, I'll let you know when I do

Matt

Day 165 - Fast Response

Well this evening after visiting my dad I was coming out of the hospital I heard this air ambulance landing to I rushed back to the car and grabbed my camera, thankfully I had a long lens in the car :D this shows it just lifting off having delivered a patient to the hospital in the fading evening light

The phone box is a great shot although 'unoriginal me' would have probably done a B/W conversion with selective colouring!!!

A bit of selective colouring was certainly a consideration but I think to really carry it off I would have needed a bit more contrast in there and going down that route would have clashed a little with my softer shallow DoF look  glad you like it though

Day 167 - Filtered Friday

This evening the weather was perfect for an ND110 landscape image but I didn't have any locations in mind so I thought that I'd head on over to the beacon and have a go at an angle I've never covered in daylight and that I knew would work with the wind direction that we had this evening :D

Oooo very nice mate, love the colour and the movement in them clouds

Thanks mate, it was just the perfect conditions for it, I did have to park so that I could shelter the tripod down wind of the car but other than that it was a great evening so I had to do something like this I just couldn't pass up the opportunity :D

Matt

Oh yes we have bucket loads of sea :D

And so reed's so I'm lead to believe :D I might head over your part of the world for a couple of days soon
