Love the idea of the changing coins.

Thanks Tony, I thought that it was a good one for the weekend  just trying to think of something for today since it's done nothing but rain :(

Day 157 - Drops of Gold

On a rainy day what better to warm you up than a nice yellow poppy, this one covered in just a little bit of the rain that was still falling as I shot this

Really liking the poppy Matt, lovely vibrant colours and I like the rain drops.

Thanks Michael, It's been a hard day to be honest as when the weather was any good I was to busy cooking and the rest of the time it was raining :( I'm hoping that some decent weather will be coming back soon

Matt

I know what you mean, yesterday was a bit like that, very nice whilst having a lovely a cup of coffee at a tea room and when we got walking it just went flat! I want clear skies back too!

Clear sky's would be great it would let us get the next star trails meet done and dusted

Matt

To be fair it's more than likely that your correct, but I was just going on the fact that this year is the 60 anniversary so  but it's more than possible as you say she was not corinated till 63 you should give macro a go, for static stuff like this I use a set of cheap manual extension tubes that cost under a tenner of ebay :D

Matt

you need to check your maths mate 2012 - 60 = 1952

still a great picture, you just need to reshoot it with an older coin ;)

I know my maths teacher would be seriously annoyed with me :bang: that was pointed out on flickr a few day's ago boy did I feel like a pillock but your the first to have pointed it out on here :D now that the weekend is over I'm not going to reshoot it but I have lined up a 5 shilling proof to commemorative the coronation that I shall be using next year, now that shows how far ahead I plan my photo's :suspect:

I love the composition and the colour of the canal shot. Nice of the swan family to pose for you.

Thanks Sue :D I was lucky that evening and the swans they had their price

Well I had to say it this early on but I think I may be at least doing a POTD challenge till 26th September 2013 :suspect: I've not totally decided yet but I'm really tempted to run to a challenge 1000 :cuckoo: it's something I've been thinking about ever since decided to carry on for a second year :gag:

A challenge 1000 :O surly a first on TP ??

I don't really know but it's something that I'm considering but I think that I must be :cuckoo: for even thinking about it, a POTD can for someone like me be quite addictive :bang:

Well I think you have thought long enough now... Looking forward to the next 478 shots

:D

Well to be honest it's the great support that I've received from TPer's that have kept me going  there have been day's in the past that I've just wanted to give up especially this year, I only hope that should I make it to 1000 that I can find the strength to stop :suspect: though I do think that I'd miss it when I do stop :suspect: but the comments, critique and encouragement that I'm getting on here really make me want to continue it

Matt

Stunning Poppy shot Matt !!Keep up the good work Pal !

Cheers Vince :D I'm considering heading out now in search of my POTD now :D I do try and keep them good

Matt

Enjoy pal and I look forward to the shot !!

Today's will have a communication theme but that is all that I'm going to say at this point, I've taken the photo, but it's not been processed yet as it's not time to sort dinner out

Day 158 - Slow Connection ;)

I'm actually one of those people that still thinks that the Royal Mail is something to really proud of  that even in remote locations with out a sign of life you could still send a letter  and expect it to arrive anywhere on the mainland within 24hrs  and all that for well under a pound :woot:

I'm going to be looking at other forms of communication over coming weeks

Oh, now that I like - that couldn't be more British if you had the Queen posting a letter.

Great find.

Thanks John, I thought so too  and I think that it's brilliant that even right out in the middle of nowhere you can still get a collection 6 days a week  I wonder how often there are actually letters in there :suspect:

Matt

I'll definitely support your run to 1000 shots, Matt. I'll admit though that I was all set for a Challenge 1000 around this time last year and by October, I wanted to never do another daily photo challenge in my life! :)

I think the support from this thread will help you get there though.

The recent shot of the yellow flower is amazing. The detail and the raindrops jump off the page!

Thanks Ben, that is appreciated  I can honestly say if it were not for the support of those that have taken the time to follow my challenge this far I really don't think that I would have made it this far  so continued support is really appreciated

I really loved the detail that I got in that yellow flower myself  especially since I confess I did rush it a little as it was still raining quite a bit

Liking the post box Matt, nice to see a bit of blue sky. Nice coin shot too, you seem to have a good selection of coins.

Thanks Michael, I could really do with a little more blue sky around getting seriously bored of flat grey sky's currently, I have a massive collection of random coins :D

Day 160 - Showing age at 85

This old style penny has had a hard 85 years and is showing some character I cannot help but wonder the cause of some of the dents and scratches in the coin
