Matt . love the coin shot bud. I use the extension tubes on a Tamron 28-70mm macro lens and can say they are a good addition to the kit.

Thanks Vince that's appreciated  I do love a nice bit of macro :D

 you know your becoming a photographer when you start to think in DoF and light :suspect: It looks like we're really starting to get into the flower season now

Likewise mate, had a great time :D the warwickshire internet curse has hit you :D

Matt

Really like the flower shot, Matt.
The light and DOF are spot on!

Thanks Ben, I was really pleased with how it came out and with the little water droplets to boot

Matt

Absolutely, hadn't even noticed the water droplets.
They add even more to the image!

Thanks mate :D I'm starting to hit that plateau, I suspect that these next few weeks will be the deciding factor as to if this challenge evolves into challenge 1000 or not as it's just past half way now

I saw your most recent Toki photo, he is getting big  love to see Toki and looked like the kids of Korea love him too  from the out and about photo :D

I have to agree about plateauing. I was all prepared to do 1000+ days, but in the end, I was glad when I finished my 2nd year and stopped shooting every single day! I found that I wasn't enjoying photography as much when I couldn't take a day off! I'm back to shooting everyday now though, just without a "challenge" to follow which is nice.

He is getting huge, currently sat in my classroom in fact! I am trying to take as many Toki shots as I can because I'll have to give him away soon enough. Not looking forward to that day, but he has been a fun pet for the last year or so.

See the thing is I'm still enjoying the every day aspect at the moment but having said that I think that the biggest concern to me is my photo's becoming too predictable yet there is only so much that you can take photo's of

I've noticed that he has got big when you look through all the photo's, it's a shame that your going to have to give him up, I take it that your going to be moving on from Korea?

Matt

Yep I found a similar issue with a lack of new subjects going to the same job and living in the same place, but it can be done, just adds more fun to the challenge. :)

Yes sadly we'll have to leave him behind. He is going to live with a nice family though so will be well looked after. I leave Korea in August to travel around Asia for about 4-5 months, then hopefully moving to the USA in 2013.

Sounds exciting  and lot's of new photo opportunities  but going to be a shame to be saying goodbye to Toki :(

I'm just going to have to get more creative  to find those new opportunities :D

Very nice composition on that Matt, lovely dof.

Thanks Michael, :D I really should get started on today's photo :D I've had the idea I just need to do it now

Day 153 - Change-ing Face's

Today I had the idea to show of the changing face of the queen over her reign for a coin minted to celebrate her coronation right up to a recent design

To be honest I am thinking of a way to improve this and can think of a couple of things that I would like to improve ;)

Very interesting and appropriate idea for a shot today, Matt!

Thanks Ben, I had the idea earlier in the day and had to have a good sort thought to find the right coins :D I think that I'll re-shoot it in the future as I think it would be better if I could shoot it to make all the coins the same size

Matt

Good idea for a sequence. I wonder how many people actually notice things like this! I would never have thought of scrutinising my loose change. Maybe there's a follow up here with stamps?

Cheers

Bob

When I get my tubes I might try the same with the Spanish euros!!

Hi Matt,

Just checking in shipmate, looks like you are still really busy some lovely images there. There is no way i could find time for this is hard enough fitting in the '52':clap::clap:

If I had some older stamps then I'd certainly consider giving that a go :thumb: I'm sure you'll enjoy your tubes once you've got them I know I have a lot of fun when I use them :D

Day 154 - From a flat

Well not exactly what I was thinking of when it came to my photo for to day, but a flat tyre and the fact that VW seem to think that it's appropriate not to include a spare on a car with a list price of £25k

Nice Blossom shot Matt , sorry to hear about your Flat !!

Thanks Vince, the flat is a PITA but that's only been multiplied by the fact that on going out this afternoon to use my other car, that I confess I only use when I need it and it had a flat battery, when putting on my jump starter, the battery must have been dead for a week or so and the security systems have locked me out by disabling the engine :bang: :bang: :bang:

I really should take my POTD for today, thankfully I already know what it is going to be

Matt

Its been a while, but nice shots - still going strong

One day I'll have a 5DIII (well, or maybe a 7D II :))

Cheers John, I have to confess that I am loving the 5D3  it's a stunning piece of kit, but you've got a bag of lens I'd love  I'm pleased that you like what your finding in here

Relax...you'll have to remind me what that is  :suspect: you'll have to do a POTD Challenge :naughty: I really must do my photo for today, I've just done my food shopping online now to grab the camera, and since it's getting dark, the flash :suspect:

Hi Matt,

Yep, i'm still a landsman at the moment, hopefully find out during the next week what my next ship is and where we will be going :runaway:

Sound's like fun  I was half expecting to see photo's from London from you :D I was going to go down myself but for the aforementioned car issues over the last 24hrs, I'm sure my doctors at St. Thomas' would have let me park on south bank like they normally do

Day 155 - A Diamond Day

With today being the Diamond Jubilee I had to do something that represented that event, while a few day's ago this small solid gold coin arrived in the post but I though that I'd save it till today to take photo's of it for my challenge....

That shot really represents the Jubilee to me, nice one.
Sorry to hear about the flat. I watched a taxi driver try and drive over a high curb and pop his tyre this morning!

Thanks Ben :D to be honest it's been a day of flat's I have two cars, one has a flat tyre the other one has a flat battery, a real pain in the ass and it had to happen on a double bank holiday weekend :( I've still got to figure out how to sort out my flat tyre since VW don't do spare tyres anymore :( and the tyre is trashed as I didn't realise I had a flat for about a mile at least, flipping front wheel drives with a rear puncture :( though that may just be me being used to driving either rear or all wheel drives :bang:

Matt

Maybe try an online supplier like blackcircles? They usually do decent prices for delivery. I can't believe VW don't do spare tyres anymore. That is pretty shocking!

I don't think that I'll find anyone on the bank holiday :(

Day 156 - Seeing Double...

It's not every day that you can go up to Burton Dassett and see two beacons and to top it off get to see some nice fireworks too boot
