Day 116 - I'm Blue :(

Not really, I'm just getting bored of rain, I want to go out and play and test my 5D3 but in the lull in the rain today I gabbed my camera and for the first time since I've had the camera my 430EX2 just to see what it was like with the flash on, and I can say it handled it really well :D

I've no idea what the plant is but it appealed to me from the high PoV

Hi Matt,

I like this one, especially the DOF. The weather is certainly challenging, isn't it?

The flower is Green Alkanet.

Jenny

Thanks Jenny, I'm pleased you like it. I've updated the name on flickr  the weather can be a real pain especially as I didn't have an indoor idea for today, but be even worse for you and your challenge :bang:

Day 117 - Calm before the storm...

A storm is brewing over the Avon at Stratford today so this tourist boat turned and headed back to it's mooring...

I'll confess today has been one of those real struggle days where I've really lacked inspiration as to what to capture :( and that this is actually a fairly heavy crop

Hi Matt, liking the Green Alkanet, flash has worked very well. I like the Startford shot, a nice contrast between the colours.

Overall I like the Stratford one because in the foreground you have a nice sunny day but can see there is one heck of storm coming in  glad you liked the Green Alkanet, I'm think flash worked just right for that one :D

Day 118 - Rainy Days

It has to be said even rainy day's have there advantages :D it it had not rained my only chance at this photo would have been to fake it   that said I'm missing sunsets I want a sunset :( I feel like it's been an age since I shot a decent sunset

Hi Matt,

That stormy picture is a great capture - a brightly lit boat with the dark storm clouds behind

I love the tulips, too. Beautiful colours and rain does come in handy sometimes! I don't have tulips in my garden.

Jenny

Thanks Jenny, I'm pleased with both of them, I just wish I had been in a better position for the boat, I wasn't expecting it to turn where it did :( I'm surprised you don't have any tulips  time to plant some for next year :naughty:

Day 119 - Waves of Yellow

Today it was really windy when out with Darrell (thedodo) having a go at getting our POTD so I decided to use a slow shutter speed to try and show that off while Darrell was lost somewhere in the middle of this sea of yellow :D it was so tall it was actually over his head

Setting were ISO160 - f/14 - 1/15th and this has really shown off the movement

Day 120 - In the Pink

Well I've shown some Blue Bells and I've shown some White Bells so today it's time since the rain relented for five minutes to show off some Pink Bells :D

I'm getting bored of this drought now  I want some nice weather again

Liking the pink bells Matt, hopefully will get out soon and find some bluebells. Nice movement in the rape field. How are you finding the 5d3 now you have had it a few days?

Thanks Michael, I'm loving the 5D3  it's allowing me to get certain photo's I'd have previously struggled to get

Matt

Hi Matt,

Checking in... looks like your still very busy. Keep up the good work. I really like your work you have been doing on flowers recently, really nice depth of field and focus. Waves of yellow - outstanding ! Rape fields are often depicted but I have never seen this before so 10/10 for originality.

Hope you're keeping well these days.

Like the rape field shot, Matt.
Very original idea and you've really captured the windy and stormy feel very well!

Cheers Ben, I was rather pleased with how it came out  especially for hand held

Day 121 - Golden Times

This evening I went off on the hunt of wild blue bells again and it looks like they're finally starting to show themselves in numbers, I don't think that my normal location is going to be quite like it was last year but I'm not the less very pleased with this one....

Hi Matt.
Glad to see you are still hard at it.
As always liking the flower shots, keep it up!
Pink and white bells are something i don't have in my own garden, might have to change that.

That Bluebell shot is a stunning shot Matt, really like it.

Thanks Michael, I'm really pleased with it I've been doing a lot of floral stuff with this months POTY theme  but this one I'm really impressed with  so I'm pleased that you like it...

Day 122 - Satisfaction

I've been meaning to take a photo like this for a long time, but never got around to doing it and having a result that I felt worthy to post  but this afternoon under the dull overcast skies that are full of rain I finally did it

like the bluebell shot Matt, the oilseed is a great really hard to separate from the background you did well

Thanks Dave, I was and am really pleased with my Bluebell photo though I'm really wishing I'd used it for POTY now as in hindsight that's a much better photo than what I submitted :bonk: I'm also pleased with the OSR but think that there is still room for some improvement in that on

Matt

Day 123 - Chatty Lambs :D

It looks like these two lambs were having a little bit of a chat after a long day grazing the hills of Warwickshire, you can just make out the rest of the flock in the background :D

Lambs were a photo challenge set by my Dad for today so I though that this scene satisfied that challenge

I love the Tower and Job satisfaction, both wonderful shots. The idea of the slow shutter on the rape field in brilliant and something I'll be having a crack at.

I've had some photo's in April that I absolutely love in fact it's hard to pick a favourite for myself this month when usually I've a stand out pick of the month  but Job Satisfaction has got to be up there, though I also love my last bluebells one  With the slow shutter rape field I may be easier to get on a tripod but I did it hand held

Matt

Day 124 - The Sunny Side of Life

The last couple of weeks have been almost constant wetness and grey skies, but Gorse will brighten up any day  I've never known a time when you cannot see a few flowers on these there seem to flower all year long  I'm sure they must take some time of but I cannot remember it

I'm running the risk of developing a yellow/gold theme :suspect:

Day 125 - Drought? Really :suspect:

As I sit here and it's raining yet again, I wonder is there a drought or not this image would make you wonder, dead plant, but a lush green in the background

Hi Matt,
I'm enjoying your challenge very much, a source of inspiration no less. I particularly like the bokeh stuff (122, 124, 125). It may be my monitor but the lambs in 123 seem a little soft, or is that what you meant to achieve?

cheers

Thanks Bob, that's really very kind of you to say, I'll confess the upgrade of camera being full frame and with a very nice lens in the 24-70/2.8 has really got me hooked on bokeh and shallow DoF

I don't think it's you monitor :( that was done using my 70-300 and although it is sharper on the 5D3 in comparison to the 450D it's still not that good :(
