Wow thats very innovative use of the bottles for colour, Matt, great how you managed to separate the colours, not easy I bet, well done to Darrell as well :clap:

:lol: :lol: I'm pleased that you like to bridge a lot of planning when into it :suspect: well 10 minutes, and the gel's were very expensive :shrug: at least a pound a piece but then I would have drunk those drinks anyway :D I would suggest having a go as the results are such fun...

Darrell is a star it's great having family as mad and as into photography as I am :thumbs:

Separating the colours wasn't easy, but after a little thought and planning plus half a dozen test exposures and we worked it out :D

Thanks Michael, both I and Darrell were really pleased with the effect, showing it to a friend earlier he asked why do they light the bridge up like that, he was shocked when I said we had done it :D

I have so many developments in mind so watch this space :D

Day 213 - Potato's...What will they become..

Don't you just love potato's they have so many different uses and can be turned into so many different food's and product's

I have tried to do a bit more HDR/Tone mapping with this as I am determined to get the processing of HDR images I think this is my best attempt to date and overall I'm really pleased with it, as with all my images C&C is more than welcome

Day 214 - Back off...

...getting a little to close :D this is not a photo for someone that suffers from hay fever, thankfully I do not :D this is playing with some manual macro tubes that belong to Darrell (thedodo) but they are in my bag at the moment as that's where they got put at the weekend :sorry: mate

Hiya Matt,

Just popping past for a quick catch-up again. I can see you have been busy lately taking some great shots.

Working backwards, I have to say the latest flower shot seems a little soft ... it would be nice to have more detail in the centre of the flower. As for the macro tubes .... well we had a policy many years ago, i.e., if someone had something for 6 months or more ... then it would become theirs :lol: (hint, hint ;))

Your HDR shots are good too. I've just been trying some of this HDR processing myself the last day or so .... not the easiest thing to do and I think where I may have gone wrong is I should have taken the shots in RAW :bang: Anyway I have made the most of the JPEGs as I could ... you will see the photos soon on Flickr.

The canal bridge lighting/star trail shot is brilliant ... and ingenious use of improvisation :thumbs:

Not sure about the coins ... I like it ... but their is just something weird about it that I can't put my finger on. I think it has to do with the convergence of the dark top right and soft bottom left and then my OCD kicks in and wants all the lines aligned. :help: :lol:

The apple shot is ace! love the control of lighting, dof and sharpness :thumbs:

I like the berry shot .... only thing I am noticing is that they are small images that you are posting. I would like to see bigger photos if that is okay. I realise I can click the image to take me to the larger one on Flickr, but that is a mission for each one. And as I see your thread as a bit of a sanctuary for me it would be great to see the larger picture here :)

Onto Day 205 ... and this one I like because of the colours, textures, dof, and the hover in flight ... well done.

The Jag is a great photo and indeed gorgeous motors. Like the processing too which gives it a period feel.

Then onto 'Slow Pay Lane' day 203 .... love this shot, just wonder if it would have been better to get more of the pump and less of the trees in. I think this would make a good photo for HDR too.

Finally ... photo not here in your 365 but the one of you in the Range Rover on your Flickr is quite cute ;)

Well done Matt, you always deliver a great shot each day ... keep up the brill work.

Thanks for coming on by and giving such a well thought out review to my latest work, it's more appreciated that you know :D

Over on flickr I have just been given an education on macro tubes and it has opened my eye's I have been informed about the trick of locking the aperture, so far all my photo's have been wide open including today's, this new formation will allow me to vastly improve my abilities with macro tubes :eek: I have said that this challenge is about learning and today I truly have

Today's photo is soft but thanks to my new knowledge I will improve on that for the future :thumbs:

The HDR Potato field is my best HDR to date, I am really pleased with it, I look forward to seeing your HDR

I had such fun at the canal bridge doing that photo, it took some planing but it has really paid off and proved popular, though it was a bit of a shock to check the time and see it was nearly 4am by the time we had finished.

What can I say about the coin stack, it was not my best work, in fact it was a photo that I had in my mind to do for a few weeks so honestly was more of a rainy day photo, one that I could do if I was having a bad day with getting my POTD, this was taken at about 9.30pm in a very dark pub, and know that I know how to use macro tubes correctly I know I could do it better :thumbs:

I am pleased with the apple all round it just seems to work

The Jag photo I just felt needed to be processed to give it an older/vintage look, she was a graceful of girl and I needed her to look right, even if the owner was a nikon user :bang: :ilovecanon:

I might just put up a before and after photo from the Jag as there were a number of background items that I removed :D

I was pleased with205, I like the balance, I originally took a photo without the hoverfly then it just happened to show up a couple of minutes later and I had to take a picture, I should add I was sat in my car when I took this :lol: I was eating dinner and looked over to see the thisle and thought it made a nice composition.

The slow lane petrol pump, I would have loved to get it all in but there was a car parked in front of it :shrug: I love that you have said it would make a good HDR subject, because it has gone through HDR processing so I pleased it was subtle enough as that's what I was going for..

I'm pleased you like the Rangie photo on flickr, check out Darrell's flickr stream there are actually 3 photo's from that day, all have only had HDR tonemapping but one look mad it's HERE

As to larger image's in thread just for you :D I'll move on up to the larger size, 640px on the largest edge, there are a couple of reasons that I normally post 500px but I'm sure it won't hurt

Day 215 - Memory in a flower

This flower has just come into flower today, and photographing it instantly takes me back to the 6 summer holiday's spent on the banks of the River Drowe's on the west coast of Ireland as these wonderful orange flowers lined the bank of the river.

At the request of Dawn from today onwards a bigger version of the image will be posted in thread.

This was taken with macro tubes and my 50/1.8 @ f/3.5 I am really pleased with the focus and DoF personally I think it works well...with the tubes there were non of the actual tubes in place only the lens mount and camera mount :D

Day 216 - The Bug's Rest

Still playing about with manual macro tubes, with this one I had just the smallest extension in place, this may even be the same flower that featured in the challenge only two days ago it is the same plant ;) but as you can see it has a visitor that's stopped for a rest after the rain

Day 217 - First Love's

I think that we can all remember our first photographic love's, for me it was light trails, I read up on light trails and when I first ordered my photographic gear, I ordered equipment to ensure that I would be able to do trails.

This is the first light trail that I have done since early April this year, although this is not the best trail I have ever done as I was not able to get to a location until well over an hour after sunset which is less than ideal it is still very important to me as it means we are close to the start of the new light trails season :D

HI MAtt, just having a catch up. Like your hdr potato field, the processing works well with it. Also like your picture of the orange flower, a Crocosmia? Used to have these in my mums and dads garden, and I remember they were very tricky to get right. Cracking focus on this one, have you rotated this picture? The hoverfly is a nice capture. And I like light trail pictures a lot, including your latest one. :thumbs:

Hi Michael, personally I'm pleased with the potato field I think it's my best HDR effort to date :D

I believe the orange flower is as Crocosmia there is no rotation on this image it's as it came out the camera in regards to rotation :thumbs: I just love the focus on it wasn't easy as it was so low down but it was worth it :thumbs:

The hover fly was a very lucky capture as I just happened to see it ;)

I'm pleased that you like my light trails including this one, it is a shame that I wasn't able to get on location earlier to get more colour in the sky, though I think I made the most of the atrocious light pollution from Coventry :lol:

Day 218 - Pudding Time

I feel this is the best part of any meal and this was mine this evening, I have not had a lot of time for photography today so this is the only photo that I have taken, not easy to expose as this was a dark chocolate cake :D but it really wasn't hard to eat :lol:

Day 220 - Twisted fire starter

Actually that should probably be twisting fire starter, I think quite effective for a first attempt at this sort of thing :D

It's actually not that hard, it's a case of getting a metal cage, such as a bird feeder and filling it with wire wool, then either using a battery to light it or a lighter and then once lit, spin it round using a wire/chain/rope
