MWHCVT(Matt's) Challenge 365 - Completed

Yeah there are some good ones in there, and I could edit them that fast because I open the first and scroll through them and delete all that I don't like at first sight, then I open them in the editor and level, any that cannot be levelled without loosing a key part of the image is then deleted this leaves me my keepers  then for this style it is just a case of crop and as required adjust contrast and brightness, maybe on the odd one a pass of sharpening but that is it so generally about 90-100 seconds per image once the initial 30-60 minutes of yes/no filtering has been completed.

For me the highlights would be:

But of Course please don't take my word for it may your own mind up ;)

Oddly there are exactly 100 in the set, so I am quite please to have a 1:6.9 success rate

Nice shots Matt. Did you by any chance try to sell any of them?

No yet because have only 4 or 5 matches but I think that I am getting better so I am thinking of approaching the local paper to start with, but I have had the odd person at the clubs have a print of me here or there, but I generally do that on a basis of a print will cost you a pint

I know that might get me a bit of stick from the pro's on here but atm that works for me, thought today I have provided a few sample images to two couples at the same rugby club that I do a lot of photos because they would like to book me to do their weddings, I have only ever done my cousins for her by way of the wedding present, since she begged my even thought I had originally said I would rather pay for a tog for her.

I have sold a few light trail photos, one to a company for use of there website and some to individuals as art pieces for their homes.

I'm only just getting round to checking out other people's 365s, I'm really disorganised :p. I have to say I really like some of some of your shots: the light trails (I really want to learn how to do these well!) and 14 (the pink streak in the sky just adds to the feel of it). I have to say I don't get number 6 though :(. I think the bokeh effect is cool but it would be so much nicer (just IMO obviously) if the first one or two were in focus.

Edit: I forgot to say I love number 4. How did you do it?!!

Thanks, I have been trying to test out new styles with my 365 including areas that I am really new to, with the light trails this is my specialist area, I have over 250 on my flickr account if you want to have a look through, and you might want to give my guide to light trails a look ;) that my shameless plug added :naughty:

Number 4 was done by taping the glass to a board and tilting it with a book, then I dropped some food colouring into the glass and then did an extreme manipulation of the colours curves in post production.

Number 6 was my first ever attempt at bokeh so needs a lot of development

Just about considering this was taken only 10 minutes into the 17th day of 2011, so here we have a trio of ghosts

Day 18 - Time Marches on

For my 18th day I was thinking that time is going so fast on this project so I thought I would capture a image that shows the passage of time

Day 19 - Totally Faked

Totally faked, this is the sky from one image and the tower from a second image, I am really not sure that this works but was worth the try but really don't think that it works

Day 21 - An amateur mistake

21/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

It was not till I was home that I realised that I had not turned off the IS :bang: :bang: :bang:

Was on the bridge for all of 5 minutes until a police car pulled up and questioned me, but no big issue they we more interested in why I was doing it than what I was doing.

On the large/high res version it is very noticeable on the lights from Coventry in the distance, over all really quite pleasing.

I am sure he was but it proved useful as was able to ask them a couple of questions in reference to the legality if parking on the bridge and he was not aware of any laws to prevent it so long as I was parked safely.

Day 23 - Love is in the eye of the beholder.

I love Land Rovers, I have never driven a car that was not bolted together at Lode Lane, So when seeing this trio in a pub car park a swift U-Turn was in order to get some pictures.

I think that is why they call them 'gem clips' :) Infact I just used one a few minutes before seeing this post, but not to keep something together, rather take something apart, they are useful little tools.

I absolutely love the way you have captured this image, the tone and lighting looks perfect to me and I love the bokeh you have there. Great composition and sharpness.

A fab image, very well done.

Cheers

Hiya Matt,

I am really enjoying looking at your 365, you have some great ideas for photos and a great inspiration.

Hope you don't mind, but I nabbed your idea of the 100 & 1000's for my 365 last night :D

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Day 27 - Looking for inspiration

M is for Matt, I know that this is not particularly original but the M could also be for miserable in describing the weather that we have been having today and all week, I am really looking forward to some good weather to get out with my camera.

I have no problem with that at all Dawn I am sure that all us 365'ers need to look for inspiration from each other at some point.

Did you get my 26 just out of interest ;)

Hiya Matt,

Thank you and indeed I agree we all need to draw inspiration from each others themes, hence why I will be keeping a close eye on your thread because you have some fantastic creative and very imaginative ideas

Yes, I did get your 26 (sorry not had time to comment yet). What can I say, but GENIUS!!! I love how you used the tiles to spell out where you are in the project. What game is that you used, I've not seen that before.

Also love how you have created todays image - very clever!!!

You are definitely on a roll with this and I get excited looking at what you have come up with next.

You defo have a fan here :D

Keep up the brill work!

Cheers

Dawn :)

P.S. I wish I could keep up like you do ...... I have over a week of 365 to still upload.

Thanks, I am looking forward to seeing your images when you get round to uploading them, this is a link about the game, I first played it when I was about 10 on holiday in Malta and it is really great.

I had to have a play with my 52 week 3 image also but I don't think that anyone has noticed what I have done with it yet ;)

Good luck with your 52 and 365.

OMG Rummikub, I have played it before, many moons ago. I had actually forgot the game (and that is not like me to forget things) although I did think it looked familiar. Thought I'd seen the tiles somewhere before :D But back then it was very much a drinking game, so no wonder I don't have much recolection of it

I will drop past and your 52 week 3 image, if I haven't already and missed the plot.

Thanks for the good luck, and to you too.

Cheers

As someone that loves a drinking game, (self confessed owned of drinking chess game) how do you turn rummukub into a drinking game???

As an expert in Chess (sad .... I know but I used to be top of the league chess team at school lol), Rummukub is very much the same .... it is all about strategy. As are the games UNO, scrabble, and my all time fave Balderdash (omg I could come up with the best definitions, especially after a few glasses .....)

The 80's/90's had some fantastic games, many of which we changed into something we could conform to

I'll leave the rest up to your imagination :p

Day 31 - A month in

Went out to take a photo this evening, but a combination of equipment issues (time to buy a new remote release) and cold mean that I didn't get an image that I liked so came home and searched for inspiration and found an old packet of jelly babies go knows how old they are because I don't remember buying them. Tried to have a play with the DoF

Nice DOF and lighting. The jellie babies look a bit tired, but I suppose that adds to the image. So go on spill the beans .... did you eat them after :gag:
