MWHCVT(Matt's) Challenge 365 - Completed

i Matt. Still going well i see. Love the head picture earlier, was that a radiotherapy mask? I had one similar.

Anyway, I have a shot of this Virgin Airbus too, it was down in Kent last week using Manston Airport for training. It in my Flickr.

#91 is a cracker too.

Allan

Thanks Allan, the mask is actually for NIV (non invasive ventilation) I suffer from a condition called OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) I may have mis-spelled that. Basically my airway closes off when I am sleeping, I where this when sleeping and it forces air into my lungs and keeps my airway open.

That virgin A333 has proved immensely popular with only one more view it will be my highest viewed photo of all time ;) it has even been linked on an internal virgin forum.

As to #91 I do love light trails and it is nice to show off something a little different

Day 92 - Art?

I am not going to get into the whole debate is graffiti art or not as I don't think that there is truly a definitive answer to that particular question, but I really wanted to have a go at HDR Graffiti as I have seen some really great examples, I am really pleased with this but look forward to hearing the TP response to this photo.

Day 93 - Now where did I leave that pot of gold...

For me the definition of a grab shot, the composition is exactly there with this shot but this is the first remnant of a rainbow that I have seen this year and the first that I have seen when I have had my camera available to take a shot, how moody and mean does that sky look

Day 94 - Maggie

A shot of a flower on our magnolia tree, a sure fire sign that we are going to have a frost is this tree coming into bloom, and this year was no exception, I am a little disappointed to be honest as nearly all the flowers had a bit of deterioration on them thanks to a light frost last night, and it only bloomed yesterday, such is life...

Day 95 - Sweet Memories

Seeing these in a shop that I was in the other day triggered a long lost childhood memory, anyone that has flown Britannia Airways in the late 80's and 90's will remember that before take off they used to come round with a tray of Fox's Glacier Fruits...

Day 96 - High Speed Helpers

I was not out looking to take pictures of the Air Ambulance or any aircraft, was actually hoping to be taking a picture or two of some blue tits but they decided not to make an appearance...

This was taken at far to higher speed for choppers than is ideal, but I still like it and I am also a massive fan of the WNAA and the work that they do, they are a really worth while organisation..

Day 97 - Warp Speed

I am lucky to have this wonderful old church in the village that I live in so get to take puctures of it when ever I like...

I rather like the orange/yellow colour that the street lights give the scene

Hiya Matt,

Really like 97 and something I have been hoping to do soon, just waiting for a clear sky.

I've only got the 18-55 kit lens and a 70-300 lens, which would you suggest is the better of the two to use and any advice on settings would be very helpful.

cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Dawn, I would go for the 18-55, keep it at 18mm because you want a nice big sky, I have found that because of light pollution I have kept the ISO at 400 some have suggested 800 and if there is no light pollution I would go for it and then open the aperture nice and wide this was f/4 and then 30 second exposures again I have done 10 and 15 seconds depending on light pollution

Hiya Matt

Thanks for the info, I will try that .... maybe tonight if I can. The sky looks sort of clear, may have to set up in the back garden, but like you say all depends on light pollution.

Will try the settings you have suggested and play with them either way to see which works the best.

Cheers

Day 98 - UFO Spotted of my House

Well technically it ain't no UFO but still darn decent of the pilot to fly just over my house so that he can become my picture of the day...

Day 99 - Sunshine's great for the soul.

Well I spotted this Dandelion and I love these bright little flowers, but wanted to be a bit different with the processing so first of a crop to 1:2 aspect ratio with off centre focus, I have then given the entire image a heavy dose of de-saturation to give the image a softer colour tones with the surrounding area going almost to full mono, but retaining subtle hints of colour.

Overall I am pleased with the end image.

Day 100 - Passion :woot:  :naughty:

Yes, I know that I have gone a little OTT with the title for today "smiley overload" But I am really pleased to have got this far, also today is going to be a new record for me with my flickr daily views

Passion, because I was really impressed by the performance of the players today at the first ladies match that I have ever photographed.

I have him as my picture of the day too, twice!! He passed over Manston airport then the next day I saw it tethered on the airfield. Its not as big as it seems...

Love #97 too, good capture.

( just checked mine, different reg numbers, the country must be full of them!)

How mad that in the space of such a short period of time we should both shoot Goodyear blimps and yet they are different ones I know that there are a few blimps in the Goodyear livery but not that we had more than one in the UK, I found it really funny that according to a contact from another site, aviation this time, it ended up flying right over the Dunlop Tyre factory which made me chuckle :naughty:

Day 101 - Film or Digital, that is the question?

This is a bit of an old vs new shot for me, in the same style as my Day 60 that show film vs digital photography this is film vs digital video

Day 102 - Mystery Daffodil

Taken in the house, of all the different types of Daffodil that we have in the garden we don't have this variety so if anyone seeing this knows the full name of these stunners please let know the full name as I think they need to be planted in the garden for next spring.

Day 103 - Vin gelées

My idea for getting my photo fell through today, I was going to photograph my first evening/night rugby game, but it really was just too dark. So on the way home I had to think up an idea for a photo of the day, this was it.

Hi Matt,

Really like this photo, most of all I love the querky angle. I also think the way you've positioned the subjects and the vignetting works well

Will :D.

Day 104 - I read, but do I eRead

So I was sat down earlier thinking about other new vs old opportunities there are out there since my other new vs old photos that I have done recently

So here we have it centuries old technology in books vs new technology in the form of the eReader or electronic book

From a personal perspective I love books and will never move away from buying real paper books, after all I have never had the battery die on my favourite book just as I get to finale

Day 106 - Everyone face forward and smile...

Amazingly it is quite hard to take a great sports team photo, trying to get them all to face the same way at the same time and have them all smiling, this is the best of the set that I have taken today for the team, I hope they like it..

109/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

I still feel a bit rough today but a lot better than I did yesterday  but still not feeling like venturing out  It is also a little like I feel about this challenge occasionally, i.e. I must be mad/banana's for taking on this challenge, but truthfully I am really enjoying the challenge.
