MWHCVT(Matt's) Challenge 365 - Completed

Day 275 - Really Fizzy

I don't know exactly why but the idea of a fizzy cola bottle and fizzy water just seemed to be a good idea :D I'm pleased with it

275/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

On a technical note when using tubes or any macro you don't get that much room in DoF so with this I went for the perimeter to be sharp, this may spur me in to learning about focus stacking

Day 276 - Fizzing with Ideas

I decided this evening to revisit my idea from yesterday but with a different subject, yesterday although I loved the concept of the photo, after packing everything away I and editing the image I was not 100% happy with the focus so I decided to re-shoot today but with a different subject, I'm a lot happier with the focus on this one :D

Day 277 - More water ;)

Playing with the manual macro tubes trying to do a water drop this was the hardest effort at water drops that I've ever done in know I've only tried 4 times but still....

Matt, your latest pics are great. Nice work with the tubes, and great ideas for the subjects! Really like the water drop, great colours.

Im off on holiday for a fortnight at the weekend, will have to do a catch up after I get back depending on how good my phone connection is.

I hope you enjoy your holiday

Thanks Kev, this was actually a little experiment on my part I did this with just a glass and a drip from the kitchen tap, the colours are from holographic wrapping paper

It was a pint glass filled to the brim, then placed under the tap, yeah the paper was in the background to take the bad background out and some nice colour  hope this helps

Day 278 - Stormy times - A refuge

So even in stormy times there is always a place of refuge, in this case it's a church but that may not always be there case, where's your place of refuge, the arms of a loved one, down the pup, church??? we all have different answers, for me it's through my view finder of my 450D I love all the different things that I've already done this year and how the camera has allowed me to develop :D

278/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

I did a long exposure from this location earlier in my 365 and this evening I wanted to give it another go with my new ND110 but in the end the final images was not going to look that good as the sky would have ended up just looking a smooth grey which wouldn't have looked too good :( so I decided to give the church a bit of HDR treatment and I'm really pleased that I did as the sky looks fantastic from this vantage point :D

Day 279 - 10 years a 10 pence

This is a 10 year old ten pence, done as a macro photo shows just how much wear there has been on this coin in it's life :D

its amazing to think how much that coin has seen and how many hands its been passed through!

Great shot!

I know it's what keeps on drawing me back macro's of coins the possible history of them  I just love old coins :D

Day 280 - Hay Fever Warning

273 - such a perfect light trail mate. Absolutely perfect sky, what sort of exposure was this at ? You have inspired me to go get some pics tonight on the A42 (on the way to EMA)!

274 - Wow! Superb. Is that one picture? Amazing light trails and a great idea on the church! I likes

275/6/7 - I appreciate the technicalities of the picture, but it just doesn't do too much for me.

278 - Nicely composed and a great sky, but I feel the field to the left is distracting.

279 - Leading me more into the macro shots  An interesting snap, the coin looks ancient.

280 - Now that's close!! Great catch, without knowing anything about macro, I would like to see all of it in focus, but I don't know how easy that is on the macro set up.

Thanks for the effort matt, keep it up.!! I would love to be up to this standard one day

Joe

272 was a 3 minute exposure at ISO100 f/22  don't forget to send me a link to any you do  I'm up at EMA a couple of times myself in the next couple of weeks if you fancy meeting up to take some photo's

273 is made up of multiple 25 second exposures stacked one on top of the other the lighting was done with a disco light that we accidentally broke a few weeks ago an are now powering with a bike battery :D

I appreciate macro is not for everyone :D so thanks for you comments on those :D in regards the DoF on the Lily with macro you DoF is literally a couple of millimetres even at f/22

I see you point about the field in the church HDR but without it I think it would have given too much of a central composition

Day 281 - Oxford Calling

Today I call do go to the outskirts of Oxford, so I went for a little walk down the river :D it's a nice section of the Thames and it's one that I've not seen before :)

281/365 by mwhcvt, on Flickr

This is a 136 second exposure at f/13 and ISO100, filters we my B&W ND110 and a Cokin P Series ND2 Soft Grad.

Lovely shot Matt!

One thing I would say is that the sky looks a little over the top for me.

Thanks mate :D it's always a difficult call on just how far to take it with processing, maybe I've pushed a little far but I like it

Yeah the thing with shots like this is your not going to please everyone. As long as your happy with it then job done!

:D I always try for photo's that everyone likes  but I don't think that's actually possible but it's what I think we should all aim for as photographers  but your right the most important thing is to like you own work ;)

Iv just been looking through your club shots Matt... Where was they taken?

Those were all taken when I was at a party last new years eve, honestly they are rather rubbish on the whole it was before I'd bothered looking up styles for club shooting so most of them are rather crap

Matt

duttytd said:
slow the shutter down to keep some of the ambient light and use your flash to freeze the subjects ;)

:D I know mate that's what I do now  :naughty: such as Day 176 that was a slow speed zoom burst with a rear sync flash :D

ND FTW!

I liek the exposure Matt, the water looks great with a nice reflection of the trees, have you done a B&W version?

Thank you :D I've not done a B&W just yet I'll be doing one later though

Day 282 - Matt the painter :D

I tried to do this a few weeks ago but after a number of attempts at 3 in the morning I gave up, this evening I thought that I would have another go :D

It's not come out too bad, at least I got all the letters and numbers the right way round :D though that's harder than you may think
