Hi all

I turned our spare room into a small but serviceable home studio a while back and have ironed out the majority of issues that naturally come with such an endeavor.
However one thing is threatening to remove the few hairs I have left and that is stopping my white muslin / cotton background from bunching up on the carpet underneath. Yes I know I should not really have carpet under there but this is still used as a spare room and I mostly shoot families and children and they like the softness underneath to play around on.

However I continually have to ask them to step off the sheet so I can straighten it out as a few seconds of people walking on it/ kids playing on it makes it bunch up meaning a lot of pp work and even worse good shots going to waste because of toes and feet being hidden behind the "bunches"

I would really like to keep the carpet but was wondering if anyone else knows of some method of keeping the muslin in place and minimising movement? Maybe someone has a similiar problem and knows of a clever fix?

I was thinking of some kind of tape or rug gripper that could be put under the sheet to stop it sliding maybe? :help:

Yours frustrated

Rich

It might be a pain finding somewhere to store them, but you could keep boards to lay down on the carpet before laying down the muslin.

Thanks guys. As for bords I have thought about it but to get them up the stairs I would need 3 seperate strips which would present its own problems in regards to seperating under the muslin. Will check that link out, cheers :-)

Not if you hinge them on the underneath - that way you can fold them together for storage too.

White melamine faced boards are peanuts. If the room you are using is just for a studio, you can leave them up against a wall when not in use.

Will sort you problem when put under the muslin, can be used on top of the muslin if you want a slightly reflective floor.
You could also wallpaper the back to use as alternative backgrounds for head and shoulder shots and so that they don't look so bad when stood up out of the way.
