I've been asked by my work to take some photos whilst working at a music festival.

I don't need to take shots of the artists, but of the volunteers we will be sending - they will be working in different roles, some will be behind the scenes - working on sound desks or as camp DJs etc, some will on hand to help the punters if they need any information or directions.

They'll all be wearing nice colourful outfits, so will hopefully make interesting subjects whilst doing their jobs.

I need advice on what kit I should take, my kit list is up to date on my profile. But I should have access to a number of extra equipment that work own.


Any advice?
 
Take the best stuff you can get your hands on. Not sure what your work have, but both lenses that you have are fine, but will struggle if you need to shoot low light. An external flashgun would probably help as well.

f2.8 lenses would be ideal if you can get them but your fifty should help in low light if you have no other access to fast glass.

If you can get one a backup body will help, just in case the worst happens.
 
I'd take work's stuff, then if it gets damaged etc it is their stuff not yours.
 
Also bear in mind that with some on stage stuff (monitor desks, FOH rigs at smaller festivals) you might not be able to use a flash (same rules as shooting the band depending on what the organisers are like)
 
Cool, thanks for that - work have lots of equipment so will probably take their stuff, not mine ;)

So if you had a pick of any lenses - what would you take?
