Multiple RAW files

As a beginner in the game, I've seen a number of people mention something about such a such a person is only using 1 RAW file or 2 RAW files and I have absolutely NO idea what they're talking about.

Is this process were you use one photo with certain exposures and combine them with other shots of different exposures to make the perfect shot. For example, If you wanted to have a bold sky with a highly exposed scenery?

Any info would be appreciated

Yes This is when you do some exposure bracketing and combine them later to get more dynamic range.

Try having a search for HDR (High Dynamic Range) Images. Its essentially what you described, here's it on the wiki:

I thought this was right, I just didn't know the term for it so I couldn't investigate further. I'm going to give it a go today sometime. I doubt I'll get a chance, though.
