Not too sure of what to call this. Anyway.............

I have multiple images of a horse and rider going over a jump. The background stays the same, but the horse and rider are obviously moving.
How do I combine all these separate images into one final image?

Any help most welcome.

I am using CS5.

Thanks

YouTube gives u step by step video tutorial advice.

Thanks Billy, what do I search under?

put each image on a fresh layer and erase the bits you don't want on the upper images

I'm assuming the background/fence is the same perspective/angle/size

How are you with layer masks, it's probably the easiest way to do it.
Plenty of layer mask tutorials around on t'web, some on here too I think.

Some very un-friendly and sarcastic comments in here from people who I wouldn't expect it from. The initial question is valid and asking for help not silly unhelpful and condescending replies!

Barry, the sarcastic link from admirable is probably your best bet, as mentioned above the process has various different names from clones to multiplicity so it can be tricky to find help on exactly what you are after. Hope that helps.

Yes, I agree with Jimmy, search for "multiplicity " and "photoshop" that will bring up a raft of videos etc, some so so.......some awful..... but hopefully they will give you a starting point.

Thanks for constructive advice.
Hopefully I now have a starting point.

Just be aware that they take one hell of a lot of time and effort to do properly.

Personally I'm not a great fan of the clone method, especially when it comes to equestrian stuff, because it limits you to the original frame size.

For horsey stuff you are better off creating a panorama to give the animals room to move.

Photoshop Photomerge tool (File->Automated->Photomerge) sets up the basic canvas and layers, but be prepared to do a fair amount of masking work on the layers to get it looking reasonable.

The below took about 3 hours after the initial merge, and it's still only a basic attempt with errors on the string & in the background.

I've got a better attempt on one of my backups, but no access to it at the moment.

If I were doing the same thing today I'd include another image of the combination at either end and crop it shorter to leave the fence judge's car out (possibly the fence post as well), but it gives you a vague idea.

Thanks Mark.That is very helpful.

Try searching tutorials under 'photomanipulation' or 'photomontage' for photographs that combine different images. Best wishes.

Thanks Ashley. I am working tonight so intend - if things are quiet - to have a play then.

Best wishes, I've always loved making photomontages, hope you have as much fun experimenting!
