Hi all. I'm not sure if this should be in post processing section so mods feel free to move it.

Anyways...

I've seen shots on here where someone is sat on a sofa or against a car and the same person features several times in the shot. Would anyone be kind enough to either post a link or give me a quick "how to"?

Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave,

The easiest way to do a 'composite' is to set up your camera on a sturdy tripod and make sure you have all the areas you want in your final image in the frame.

You then need to take a series of the same photograph with you in different positions (using your camera's self timer is the easiest way to do it). If you are using natural light, you ideally want to shoot them in manual mode too to make sure that each image is exposed exactly the same.

Once you have all of the images you want, you need to open them all in Photoshop (or similar). Select one of the images, and then copy and paste to a new layer each of the others one by one.

You then delete everything but you from each of the layers until you end up with the base photograph plus you in a different place on each of the other layers.

It's easier to do if you avoid things like sofas and soft furnishings as these bend and crease when you sit on them making it difficult to blend the images together.

There are several tutorials out there for composite images, so Google and see what you get back.

A couple of tuts are HERE and HERE. The images are different, but the concept is the same.

HTH?

As it goes really multi exposure on a tripod then layer them up in ps shop using screen.

On some cameras you can do this automatically.

hope this helps

Cor fast response or what. Thanks guys. I'll be having a read and play with that.

My software of choice for photo composites is Xara Xtreme.
Lightning speed

Example.

This was manually done in roughly 17 seconds in Xara Xtreme.
It really is that fast
