Yes
Basically after a shoot today I had to do the following to each picture

A: convert 114 pics into 500x333
B: convert the colour profile into sRGB

All individual...took a while!!

How can you batch process something like this?

In Photoshop?
Make an action for the resizing if they are all the same orientation.
Or two actions if they aren't.
Not so sure about the colour space, set Photoshop up to work in sRGB and opening each file and saving might convert?
Kind of beggars the question why you didn't shoot in sRGB if you knew you'd be needing sRGB files?

Depends on your software, LR and Bridge both have batch processing capabilities but tell us what you have and that will help :)

buy lightroom - it will save you sooo much time, PS is only needed for specific edits (retouching) you can do anything you can do in ACR in lightroom :D

OK so we now know you have photoshop cs4.....do you use LR or Bridge?

Photoshop is great for those individual images but you really need either Bridge or LR for any kind of decent workflow. Personally I use both.

Import to LR, (weed out the crap I don't want to keep and get rid) WB, crop and exposure in LR and export JPEGS.
Open in Bridge as a light table and autoload into CS3 to process individual files.
Save as back in bridge and job done.

I can get through an entire wedding (so about 800 images) and get them all album ready in about 5 hours. :)

Also keep the colour space the same throughout and it saves having to convert it. Both my album suppliers want sRGB so all my files are in sRGB from the start.

With photoshop probably the way forward is to record an action (like a recording in a way) You do the steps needed on one image while recording the action, then you can run the action on a batch of images while you have a coffee and a sandwich.

I use bridge, well never really used it I only use it to view my cr2 files as thumbnails and open jpegs in the raw processing etc.

Will give it a look into :-)

I'm sure you can use Photoshop to do this. I think it's File>Script>Image Processor

Same was as you would in bridge too. In Ps just select the folder from and to and in the resize to fit, enter 500px in both boxes (don't enter 333 or the jpg images will be smaller than you want)

I'm sure you can selecty the colour profile there too. Tick convert to sRGB.

In Bridge select the images you want worked on. Go to tools>photohop>image processor and put in there what you want it do do and it will run the batch for you. Have a coffee :)

That is what I do in cs3. I found a really good video on YouTube by a guy called "laserbri" and it really helped me understand actions and simple batch processing.

Or, if it is just a simple Resize the Ali has hit the nail on the head.

Yes you can use either or I think Alison. It's the same Image processor in Ps and in Bridge. Just depends where you are and what's quicker to access :)

Bridge does have the advantage of being able to select images if you don't want everything in the folder to be converted.

The "action" is already preset though in the Image Processor section :) Saves the bother setting it up!

Still cant do it!!

GRRR

I can find the way to do it but the setting I need to convert all to RGB or sRGB is not under that action

how do I load more action?

Have you not got the software that came with the camera I see you have a 50D

You can batch process with digital photo proffesional (DPP) that will be on the disc.

noooooo ideas were that is lol

Thats why you need to make your own action, I don't think theres a default one to convert colour space. You carry out all the steps on one image while recording the action, then use that action for batching.

File>Scripts>Image Processor

Look under save as JPG set the quality, set the max size you want a patrticular axis (for web I use 600 in both boxes), check convert to sRGB, run any sharpening or other action you want and add copyright data...... Pretty quick and easy

Call me thick....but how do I record the action .....

At the bottom of the actions palette there are some buttons. One is for record. press that and then using an open image simply make the steps you want to record. When you are done, press stop. Save the action and it appears in your action palette.

I take it you're not using the easier method of using the image processor to do what you want then?

ohhhhhh I done it!!

wahoooo!!! OH man this will make my life easier!!

:)

It's fun when you start learning how do do stuff like this.

Just give it 6 months and have a look at your actions and presets and see how much of a processing geek you have become lol

Now here's a tricky bit. Once you get a few actions you really don't want to lose them if you suffer a crash. The good news is that you can actually back up the actions :)

It's called your .atn file and you find it in your photoshop directory. Once you have a bit of a collection it is well worth regularly keeping a copy of that file. if you ever need to reinstall photoshop you can get them all back.

Would this file be possible to be relocated permanant so any new actions will be saved in the new location to?

Just I back up quick regular in a user settings thing etc and would be nice if that was auto included

You don't relocate it but yes you could include it in a backup if you are running an automatic one. Just map the path and let it copy :)

Current actions are kept in a file called "Actions Palette.psp" that is located in the preferences folder. It is still best to go to the Action Palette, make sure it is not in button mode and select each actionset in turn and save them whereever you want, these will be .atn files.

lol not when you have over 70 actions it's not! :gag:
