So I'm in the market for a compact and have pretty much decided its going to be the rx100. Just out of curiosity I was looking at its much more expensive cousin, the rx1. It states in the blurb that the rx1 has a multi-frame NR mode, where it, "creates a single bright photo from six images shot continuously".

Has any one had any experience with this? I'm not sure if any other cameras have this mode... but it sounds interesting to me as I take alot of night time shots.

No i think its different. I've done a bit more research and its six different pictures, taken at a fairly fast shutter speed (so theres no blur I assume) which are then combined so the shot is exposed enough. Its only found on sony SLT's and high end compact such as the rx1. I've seen a couple of examples and it seems to be a preferable method to using high iso. Just wondering why its not that commonly used...?

It works great on the Sony compacts with smaller sensors but on the SLTs and NEXs it isn't as obvious, you need to enlarge the image before you'll really notice it. I still use it when i'm shooting jpeg at higher ISOs, though.

I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to find a great review from one of the Sony Alpha fansites/forums discussing it's use and images but I can't find it at all tonight, sorry.

I'm wondering if the SLT and NEX technology makes it easier to shoot the bursts of 6 images without too much movement between shots?

Thanks for the info raps.

Strange it isnt used/commented on that much, I've only read good reviews of it so far..
