Would this work? I set my camera upon a tripod in bulb mode and stand in various places and fire the flash at myself and get a photo with several shots of me in it

As Jeff said, yes. BUT, the more shots you take of yourself, the fainter each of you will be and the more the background will show through you. To avoid this, you'll need to make separate exposures for each flash then combine them to get lots of you in the "same" shot.

Thanks for the replies I`ll certainly give it a go and post results

Yes it will work.

To get the 'best' result, try and get the room as dark as possible.
Then, try and get the flash beam as confined as possible, and eventually aimed at a BLACK cloth.
Then walk through the beam of the flash.

Idea is the darker the room, the less it will 'fade' your image.
The tighter the flash beam, the less it will light up other areas of the room.
The darker the cloth, the more it will 'soak up' the light of the flash that would have been spilled into the rest of the room.

Good luck. I have done it before, with sitting in different positions on a couch.

Then again, photoshop and layers can provide a similar result, more flexibility....
