Will be attending this race next year, but hetting things together early!

Any hints and tips on shooting the place ?

Will a 70/300 be long enough ?

i've been there a couple of times, but not for motogp

first tip, get there early. the place is in the middle of nowhere and you have to drive through a large village and then through some country roads. Can only imagine its utterly nuts during motogp.
its not like a regular UK circuit where you can stand by the track and watch the race through a fence, or watch from a grandstand. Although it does have a grandstand, its all mainly sitting on grass banks. The whole place is in a valley and you sit on the sides of the hill, looking down at the track. My guess is all the locals will be standing up throughout the whole race. Although luckily Italians are normally short :)
I would consider leaving the camera at home and just soaking up the atmos.
I'll dig out the only shot i took from public areas and post it.

Raceday is for watching..... :)

I've not been since 2013 but I love the place and will be heading back next year. If you are camping it's great, you just take your tent and pitchout inside the circuit, word of advice though. Unless you want to know the words to some really crap songs or have a thing for german techno music or maybe a fetish for laying awake listening to revving chain saws all night I would strongly advice taking ear plugs!! It really is the noisiest meeting I've ever been too.

The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, unless of course Rossi doesn't have a good time, in 2013 he got taken out on the first corner by Bautista and half the crowd disappeared before the race had finished..

Photography wise it's not the worst circuit I have visited but as already mentioned the track is carved out of the hills and most viewing places mean you will be looking down not the action, take some walking boots with you are this circuit is hard work walking round. The people I went with aren't into photography so I didn't wander to far, mainly the straight, turn one and the section coming onto the final straight.

Yes, get in very early, take ear plugs / noise reducing ear plugs if you are staying on site and want to get any sleep.

They were queuing to get in on race day from 6:30am - might have something to do with a certain Italian being on pole :)

Enjoy yourself (y)
