Just wrote up a blog post on improving Lightroom workflow with a code replacement plugin and locked-image-only ingest. A couple of new tweaks have worked wonders with the speed I can process pictures.

Tobers, would you mind if I posted a link to that in a press snappers group on FB?

Excellent read Tobers.

Now then

Quote "Being a bit pedantic, I’m always trying to improve on things that annoy me or don’t quite work."

Is that why you are on your fourth wife? :p

That looks great

I posted a while back asking about LR and locked images, this will be perfect. Will look into it later when I am at home and have alittle spare time

Ta muchly, although I posted it a couple of hours before you agreed I'm afraid - got impatient!!

There were a couple of guys specifically looking for a locked injest work around two or three weeks ago.

This is great and will be extremely useful, cheers Tobers.

I used the auto-copy locked files thing the other day, it's brilliant when used with Lightroom's auto-import (I didn't even realise you could auto-import before). Things are so much quicker, now to test the code replacement...

Tobers

Just trying the autocopy at the moment.

However even though I have it set to Skip without asking it imports locked files each time I pop the card in.

Any ideas?

hi Rob

it imports the pics into your selected folder and then LR sucks them from that folder into LR

so each time you put the card in its imports what's on the card into an empty folder, so there aren't any duplicates to ignore if that makes sense

cheers

Thanks Tobers

Your work around is exactly how I was thinking to do it.

Cheers Robin

Thanks Landy I did see them deleting from the folder.

Hopefully this will be fixed in a later release.

At least with all the help here it doesn't take long to get the answer :)

Have you tried it anger yet Tobers?

I will give the new version on go on New Years day.

Yep,at Twickenham on Saturday. Worked fine.

Ok great - which of the options did you use?

Is there a way that you can get Lightroom to eject the card after auto-import? I know it can on normal import but not sure it does when in auto. I often forget to eject the card and just take it from the reader which obviously can damage the files on there.

In this case it isn't Lightroom reading off the card, its the AutoCopy program. I have logging set to 'info' (I think) on autocopy so can see when it is done. That's a good idea though so why not mail John and ask if he can add an 'eject when complete' option.
