Bit of a long shot this but does anyone know where I might be able to get my old Practica MTL3 and Zeiss 50 2.8 serviced? I dug it out of the loft and fancied shooting a roll just to prove I still can. Lens seems very cloudy though.

Cheers,
Andy.

No idea for the camera but the last lens I had stripped cleaned and the mushrooms scraped off the lens cost about £40 with the postage. PM if you want details

If it doesn't work strip it down for spare screws...you can get another one for about £4-£10.

Agreed with Brian - unless the camera has some great sentimental value, any repair is going to be 5 times the cost of swapping it for a good condition replacement to be honest.

Hmm, thanks for that. Possibly agree myself. Doesn't seem worth it really does it? Yeah it does have sentimental value as it was my first SLR. I'll ponder that one.

Cheers,
Andy.

As long as the camera shutter fires and the film winds on it will work fine. As for the lens have you tried brushing it with a lens brush front and back and maybe cleaning with a lens cloth.

Why not just try putting a film through to see what happens? You may be looking for faults that aren't even there. It's surprising how much damage a lens can sustain without it affecting the image! If the lens is very cloudy, you might have a neat diffusion filter built in! :D

...and someone said you can get Kodak ultramax for £1 @ the pound shops, then pop into Morrisons for a spotty development of negs for £1....so for £2 you can check the camera out.

Put the lens in the airing cupboard for a week or so, if the camera works, put a film in and as said, already, take the shots, if you are not sure on exposure, use sunny 16 and see what happens, it,s FILM.
Let,s see the shots please.
