Symmetry - ho hum, perhaps not quite as easy as I thought.
Voting on the following candidates would be greatly appreciated!

#1 - Taken last week when trying to get a 'temperature' shot - but I think it works for symmetry?

#3 - I was at the river trying to compose a symmetrical shot of the bridge - and this presented itself (the bridge shot didn't work out)...

I'd go for the swan image. It's pretty near symmetrical at least as far as nature is concerned, and a cracking photo to boot!
 
It absolutely has to be the swan, because that's exactly the shot I saw in my head when I first read this week's theme, and you've executed it so well.

2 is great too though, while the reflection ones are good shots; just lacking a clean enough reflection to truly say symmetry to me.
 
hello Mike, i really liked 2 , until i saw the swan, right place right time, think i would crop a bit off the bottom as well
 
Hi Mike I love the swan pic, exposure is spot on and shows great detail in the feathers, it's closely followed by #2 - I love the colours in this one and your use of DOF!:)

A good set, I like it when the symmetry is natural. All good shots, I do like the bridge but it needs to be more of the focal point in the shot for this theme.

I am going to vote swan edit too, excellent shot :)

Bit behind sorry.

Temperature - lovely summer's day shot. Like the composition and the colourrs , with the starburst in an excellent position. On theme for me.

Abstract - really good idea :thumbs: Well taken with good exposure. Best is the one without the handle

Symmetry - for me that is excellent. Great idea, well taken. :clap: I really liked also the shot of the buildngs and trees against the water. Symmetry along the horizontal axis is very unusual.

Moody - like the portrait - tip of nose and thumb a little indistinct perhaps. Like the mono. Difficult theme to capture, well done, although if i were to give it a title independently of the theme I would opt for 'pensive'.
 
Agree with Alan, not sure its moody. More pondering or longing. I think its a tough one to get staged with a person. People can be hard at the best of time but to turn on the right emotion is tough!

Like the overall effect of the portrait though
 
Hi Mike, a cracking set for symmetry but another vote for the swan:clap::thumbs: I like the symmetry of the wings but the fact you can just see the head and bill of the bird works really well or it would have looked like a headless swan!

Moody, this says moody to me, the sort of moody where you should just stay out of her way! Nice composition but I agree that her nose and thumb are a little lost against the background.
 
Moody - very good, agree about the details lost in the background, and perhaps she's moody as in 'sad waiting for a call' or 'deciding whether to call or not' etc etc
The phone would seem to be important in the image.
 
Hi Mike, another good entry for moody! It suits the black and white and yes I think it does cover Moody. It's a shame about the burnt out thumb but doesnt detract too much!
 
Meadow flowers - the sheer number of them made a wonderful sight, and a lovely blue sky added to the joy experienced during my walk I accept that the joy doesn't quite reflect itself in the pics though.

I like the first joy pic, and if it brings joy then it fits the theme :)
 
Hmmmm I think #1 is really great. Love the focus point. A bit different from just a landscape but still interesting.

#4 also appeals to me, but for slightly different reasons :lol:
 
I like the flower shots especially the first one.
In the third my eye keeps wandering up to the mushroom-shaped cloud .....

Joy - I like #1 but am worried about the mushroom cloud on #3

Small - I like this one. I wondered whether a B&W version would work but keep thinking you'd lose those lovely rusty browns.

I had these thoughts too. I'd consider slightly desaturating the background to bring them out even more? Not a lot though, mind.

As it is, it's a fab shot - there's lovely detail on the cogs and as others have said the framing and composition is really lovely and gives interest to what could be a plain subject.
 
What a good idea!
I find the oof foreground spindle a little distracting but all in all I like the colour & texture of the shot. :thumbs:
