Ok, a problem has arisen with my daughters netbook (msi wind) and i am stumped by it. I use mac at home and have done for a number of yrs, but i did have a pc at home in the dim and distant and use a pc at work, so thought i would be at least able to work out the problem – but not so far.

When you turn the netbook on it doesn’t start up but gives the “windows didn’t start properly” and gives the opts to start normally, start in dos, start on network and start in safe mode. No matter which of these you chose it goes blank, starts again and gets you to the same page.

So tried f3 to run diagnostics, comes up with the diagnostic page, asks if you want to do it as it will wipe the pc and when you click starts then goes back to the same opts page. You do occasionally get a flash (and i mean a flash, less than a second) of a blue screen, but i have no way to tell you what it says.

Have tried entering the f8 and f11 set up menus but am asked for a six digit code that we don’t have and cant find on any of the documentation – after the obligatory 000000, 111111, 222222 etc we get the control alt del command and we are back where we started.

It is holding a charge fine, i have disconnected the battery and tried again so far in my trials. It is running XP btw

Very frustrated and more than a little confused. Any help would be appreciated.
