weekly Mr Slade's 2018 Photo52 - An unbearable resemblance to reality - Abundance

Hi SS good to see you here, I’m looking forward to a year of your wonderful photos.
Love the skatepark shot, that really is a smasher, the angle suits it perfectly.
Those People look as if they’re having a good time, I really like all these old traditions. It is a tad dark on the blacks, but I often have that happen, unfortunately everyone’s screen is different!
 
Nice one Frank ... not too dark for me, your trademark cinemascope (I believe). Nice wide angle, you must have been pretty close to the main man.
 
Week 0 - Like the low angle and lighting - gritty with colours of cartoon graffiti as contrast.
Week 1 - Effective pinhole, good processing.
Week 2 - Decidedly unsetling image. The low key and dense blacks make it more so. If I was a Straw Bear I'd be very nervous if I saw anybody with a ciggy lighter ......
 
That is a nice shot of a local tradition, I particularly like your positioning close to the action but showing the procession dropping into the BG. I found it draws me in looking for details.
 
Week 03 - Stark

Panorama stitch of 5 photos without tripod...must take tripod, but feared my hands would be frozen to it
 
Nice one Frank, Pano software is incedible these days, I have many handheld panos taken on small compact cameras.

Right on theme, harsh and grim... I like that photo, is it hilly around where you are?
 
People is a dark shot in tones and definitely in atmosphere; I think partly because the main main in the foreground is looking away from your camera and the direction they are walking in, which is unsettling and probably the effect you were looking for.
Stark works very well in contrasty B&W and has a cold and desolate look and feel to it; very stark indeed :thumbs:

.......i'm thinking i'll make it my quest for the rest of the year that my images won't be passable as Shoehorns, but Brainachers (y)

cheeky Dave,,,, that...THAT is designer stubble... if Dali designed stubble i guess... but ppl pay a lot of money to get that look, me?.. i'm cheap and let myself go to pasture
