As the title says. Sorry if this has been discussed previously. I have searched the forum but can't find mention.

As a total newbie to web design etc., I have been recommended Mr Site. The tour on the website looks good as do all of the links to other websites created using the package.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this bit of software.

Thanks.

Oh, and I'm busy working my way through Slapo's sticky (oh-er) and can't see mention of it.

From what I have seen of them they tend to look a little amateurish and outdated, there are lots of other options out there for photography websites though that will assist you in building it step by step.

I cant think of any off the top of my head but I'm sure someone on here will be able to...

Love my website that has been done on this. Although not all singing and dancing like others as a basic web builder ticks all the right boxes.

Easy to set up and had my pics online in 20 minutes. It suits my needs as a portal to show my pics and have never had an issue with it

Great, thanks guys. Will have a look at photium tomorrow.

For the pro package it's £100, then about that per year after the first year. This seems like a good price. Is that comparable?

Pick up thread tomorrow evening.

I would suggest buying some decent hosting and a domain name and then use Wordpress for your website - all of this would cost you around the £55 a year mark from Hostgator - (Hostgator is who I use)

Wordpress is free to use and is not just blogging software but can be used as a Content Management System as well, it is easy to set up and customise and there are loads of fantastic templates available that you can use with it as well.

I must admit I used Mr Site for a year, until my subscription ran out recently, and was completely satisfied with it. It was great for the initial "get my photos out there" type thing but i did get the feeling it was rather limited in terms of development.

So from me; if you want to get your photos online with minimal time on your part then Mr Site is ideal. But, if you are going to continually update, alter and improve your website then i would look elsewhere. Which is exactly what I will be doing when i get a bit time and money.
