weekly Mr.Si's 52 Week Challenge - Final Photos Added

Good idea. Might have been better to focus on the train and one set of buffers for greater impact.

Sense - Good idea just a little busy and the lighting seems a bit uneven darker on the LHS at the bottom.

Ending - Good composition with the tracks leading nicely to the buffers. I think you got it right with the train as it doesn't distract from the main focus but adds some interest. Only issue as said before is the BG (y)

I think I'd have liked to have seen the full engine and a cleaner background but the diagonal composition is working well as is the DoF

Hi Simon,

My hubby has an RC that he used to race before we moved, I think he would be envious of your haul of trophy's. I think you've done well with the lighting, it just looks a little off balance to me, I don't know if it's because of the taller trophy at the back?

Ending, a nice simple take on the theme. The train adds a nice splash of colour. Good DOF on the tracks and the BG doesn't bother me :)

Hi, agree with Mandy about the BG, the composition though is doing nothing for me its too central in the frame and not enough emphasis on the A+ aspect of the photo
nice idea though

Good take on the theme Simon (y) I would have never thought of blood, as mentioned, shame the bg isn't a bit more white/clinical like.

I like the idea but it looks like the WB could do with a bit of adjustment, perhaps also crop out some of the inessential bits like back end of the syringe and cotton wad support.

Positive - Its all been said really, I like the colour of the blood but wonder if a view with the syringe pointing more towards the camera would be better?

Hi Simon

Late tot he party for me as usual !

Positive.....you soooo nearly caught that drip at just the right time...almost dripping :) Yup , it is central but then it strikes me as product type shot so I'd be inclined to leave it central ....tweak your white balance & I'd say that's a pretty darn good shot :)

Hi all,

Here's my Week 10 shot. It's entitled "Nap Time". Time has been very short the last week and this shot is unedited with just the kit 18-105 lens. Here's why time has been short:

Very peaceful.

I might have tried a slightly closer crop with a tad off the left. Looks a little under exposed.

I do like the perspective.

Cheers.

Congratulations first of all :) a little under exposed as has been mentioned but no crit needed really
hope you are all doing well(y)

Thanks all. Yeah it was dullish on the ward, so kind of representative of the light but yeah, appreciate the crit. Thank you all for your kind words. :-)

congrats - cute as.......

think despite the lighting, which does actually come across as a dimly lit ward at midnight, he(?)'s got some good colour in the cheeks and looks really peaceful.

, and  to mrs.si too :)

Congratulations on the delivery of your new photographic model baby. Exposure on this has been mentioned. Hope baby and mother are both doing well.

Thank you for all the comments and lovely messages.
Mrs. Si and Baby are doing well, yes.

Now that he is a week old and we're getting the hang of things, I have had a bit more time today so I gave it a swirl and this is my submission for Week 11. I haven't gone so far as to organise doing a re-shoot though.

Hi Simon

& congrats on your new arrival....hope mum & babe doing well....not gonna crit the image...it's a keepsake of a special time...:)

Swirl.....lovely lovely lovely....really vibrant red & great use of DOF:clap: Minor niggle would be to clone out the green bit under the petal & above the rose

Congratulations to you both Simon :) like the composition, (y) something as nothing, but I'd have just been tempted to clone out the bit of green in top right corner :)

Swirl is a great image, focus, composition, dof, lighting, bg all look good to me(y) ..................possibly clone out the green leaf sticking out the top centre of the rose, to me, it doesn't add anything to the image :)

Hi also agree with lynne about the cloning but otherwise the lighting and colour of the rose is excellent

Swirl - lovely idea and composition,I agree with the crit comments that have been mentioned.

I am also chuffed to hear little one is doing well and that your starting to settle down to a routine and find your feet so to speak.

That's a really nice image. Editing the leaves have been mentioned but don't do anything to the rose itself. The vibrancy of that red is superb.
