Keep posting photos on here..........

No one comments, photos not on the home page

Decided I am invisible.................

Not worried or offended (much) but wonder how it works here....:olympus::police::police::police::police::police::police::police::police:

Dunno, but a few days back the unanswered post section was 3 pages, dating back to before xmas, I bumped a few which prompted more answers,
but I suppose it depends on the section they are in, never had much luck in the bird section TBH

All depends on how active a section is. I only ever look at landscapes so an unlikely to read a post in say motorsport.

No one comments
Looking through your recent posting history, very quickly, it seems it's just the most recent with no comments.

photos not on the home page
That all changes very rapidly, it was probably there when you posted it, but soon got displaced.

but I keep posting too.
You don't do too bad for comments either :)
I have posted quite a few photos, never received a like or comment either,
Same for you ;)

Gone are the days when you / we used to get dozens of comments when the membership was small, unfortunately.

How active are you on commenting on others work?
I've found the more you are active in adding comments the more you'll get in return.

But I think you shouldn't be looking for comments or likes. In my mind I post here because I feel others might enjoy my work. If I don't get anything back then no big deal. I make my images for my own pleasure, if others like them then that's a nice boost my the ego.

Reciprocal commenting is always good at the very least :)
Another point, when people take the time to comment, a quick thanks is always appreciated.
(Generalisation as I haven't looked to see if any of you do, or do not)
But people will soon get fed up with commenting if there is no response from the OP,
and yes it does happen a lot.

Thanks for comments. Not quite as invisible as I thought......

Not sure what the requirements are to be on the home page, but my last few have not appeared for certain. But hey ho, on we go.

I have been posting elsewhere very recently, and I get helpful comments there. I do regularly comment on fellow togs work, my expertise is limited to what I like rather than technical comment. I think I do thank people for their comments, perhaps not always.

What got to me was the photo I took that appeared on the TV weather forecast via weather watchers had no comments at all, (maybe one after some time). I can't make anyone comment, and don't particularly need my ego massaged. But if that photo did not appear on the Home page, the chances of anyone seeing it are much more limited,

I think that is my main winge, nothing goes onto the home page. It used to, so not sure what has changed.

I like TP, and if it gives my hobby an airing, that's great.

Anyway, keep up the good work, and thanks for running a great web page...

Not sure what the requirements are to be on the home page,
If you mean the random thumbnails they appear in order of posting, so new ones knock off the old ones, very quickly. But do reappear with a "latest" comment.
If you mean the full size images, they are put there by us mods, for a week or two, when we spot something that looks interesting,

But if that photo did not appear on the Home page, the chances of anyone seeing it are much more limited,
Actually your'll be surprised how many comments I've had / heard from members that don't even know we have a home page! Sad but true, they book mark their favourite page / forum and rarely stray from there.

Re appearing on the home page, there's been a definite change recently, where images that I post definitely don't appear now when they certainly did before. I could understand them being bumped off when things are busy, but not when I start a thread after midnight.

@Mark Johnson My policy for crit is to look for posts in the landscape and architecture forums that either have zero or 1 comment and then try to give comments where I can. I actively avoid threads with 2+ comments except for a couple of posters whose images I especially appreciate. I also make a point of replying in my threads where others have taken the time to comment: failure to do so or acknowledge a comment in some way is poor etiqette.

This my experience too..........

I never look at the full size images on the home page as I have to scroll down to see that section and I just jump straight to the forums. I do always reply when anyone comments on my images. Like Toni, it really winds me up when you see threads with lots of comments and the OP hasn't been back in days, It's just not polite. But I'm not worried if I get comments, likes and faves (on Flickr) or not. It puts my work out there and at least someone other than me is seeing it, whether they like it or not, and I have learned a lot just by looking at the work of others on here. It's just an observation that certain individuals are almost guarenteed lots of comments and others get very few or none, but that really does reflect real life and will ever be so. It doesn't bother me as I couldn't be doing with pages of 'nice shot'. That would wind me up as well :) I certainly don't need my ego massaging - to massage my ego you'd first have to find it...............;)

I must admit, that is a bit odd in that case, TBH I've never looked that closely at them TBH.

True enough, a lot of people on here, are friends in "real life" so I suppose that carries on to the internet life, preferring to hang around in their own little groups.
FB has a lot to answer for in that respect too ;)

Not long ago (10 m ins) posted a picture in general photos. Nothing has yet appeared on the home page.

My point is that if photos don't get on the home page, the chances are that most viewers won't be able to make the decision to look at the image properly.

Makes the process a little pointless IMHO

Also would have thought the posting would appear in "New Posts"

Count yourself lucky - when I posted some pics up they got ridiculed :p

I was amused by this thread but now I feel like a right doofus after reading that...:ROFLMAO:

jus bookmark your stickh and you never have to see the home page again....duh

mines always full of blue cameras anyway, but even if it wasn't I'd shut my eyes

i don't go to the home page, unless i press something by accident.
As above, you and so many others ;)

And as I said above, many people never go to the home page anyway.
Preferring to check out their favourite forums.

They do, but not for the "Author" as its not new to you, you've read it ;)

Care to point us in the right direction in case we missed them first time around............?
Seek and ye will find.

Seriously, don't bother. I posted some really naff selective colour snaps (mainly of cake) for a laugh and got what I deserved (and expected).

It's probably time for a new set - who wants to see my collection of external cornices? Some are in black and white? :D

As Chris said earlier, most users never even see the homepage, it's not how we use forums.

Pick a user (any user) and look at their profile page, check 'areas', and you'll see we all have places we visit regularly.

I may never have commented in Landscapes, wildlife, transport etc.

But why would I? I shoot people, I've shot people all my life, I know nowt about 'most' areas of photography.

Thanks for your view point Phil.

I guess we all use the site as we wish. Personally I log onto the home page to see what has been uploaded. I know in busy times the thumbnails don't stay there long, but at least you get a snapshot (ha ha) of what's going on.

After looking at my alerts, I then look through new posts which should cover all what's going on.

After that I look at forums that interest me, and hope the title grabs me.

My photography interests are wide, but tend to look at birds and wildlife. Portraits not so interested in, landscapes so so.

However I still would want that opportunity for all to see and comment on a submission my myself. Or have the opportunity to do so..................................
