MPB - delays?

Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing delays with MPB at the moment.

A lens I’m selling was collected on 23 April and marked as received pretty soon after, but it’s been sitting and waiting to be checked ever since. MPB just apologising and stating higher than usual volumes at the moment but this feels unusually slow and poor service from them.

Has anyone noticed a swift, or elongated turnaround time recently?

I had a trade in last week that arrived with them on Wednesday 30th April and had an email on Thursday 1st May stating there would be a delay as they were a few days behind. The trade in though was completed on Friday 2nd May the same week and money in bank by tea time the same day.

I have experienced the odd delays over the years but nothing like what you have currently.

My package arrived with MPB on the 24th of April, like others got my warning about unexpected higher volumes on the 1st, and this evening got my confirmation requesting banking details.

I traded in a couple of older cameras (Fuji xt2 and Canon 1dx) and lenses against a mint Canon R6mkii last week - my stuff was picked up by courier on the Tuesday and I had the new (well nearly new) R6 mkii on the Friday of the same week. Was a bit of a surprise as I got an email from them on the Thursday to say expected delivery of the R6 was Tuesday of the following week.

One thing i have noticed is that if you have a trade in and are buying other equipment as well at the same time the process is a lot quicker than when you are trading in single items for cash especially during their busy periods. This has always been the case in my experience.

The live chat is the fastest way to resolve any issues as you are actually speaking to a human.

Just a thought. Have you checked the status of your transaction online? I sent a lens in for part-ex on Tuesday. They received it Wednesday and acknowledged arrival. Just checked my account, and they were waiting for me to complete the transaction. No email to that effect!

They've had my stuff since 23rd April, and I too got the email about them being a bit behind...

I'm also simultaneously trying to return something, and it took them 3 days to reply to my return request.

Thanks all for the replies. I found their live chat option yesterday morning and the chap could see that my lens was received on the 24th but nothing had been done with it since. He sent a note to the checking team to prod them and that worked as I had an offer email later that day.

They’ve always been very good and communicative, but this experience wasn’t their finest showing. Loads of transactions for them each day so they can’t all go swimmingly, but definitely feels like this one went through the cracks - especially after the few hour turnaround following a chase.

Thanks for the tip, yes I did check that one beforehand but it was still at the preliminary stage. All sorted now though

It's not what goes wrong which marks a company, it's how they resolve things. :)

I sent some stuff in last Wednesday after acceptable quotes, they got it on Thursday.
Had an email this morning which notified of an upgrade in p/x value and confirmed that my new kit will be delivered tomorrow.
All in all very satisfactory process.

Well that's the good part!
The 'Excellent' condition camera arrived this morning and it's been sealed back in the box ready to return it - dings, paint-loss, scratches, dust, yellowed markings ... extremely disappointed and surprised.

I had over a week to wait after them saying my Sony a7c kit had arrived.
I got in touch with them fearing the worst but received an email to say that it was better than described and I got £37 more than quoted.
RESULT!!!! :D

I recently sent in my OM-1 mk 2 and sone lenses. A week after they confirmed their arrival I received an email update telling me that my basically new kit was better than described and I received about £50 more originally quoted. I do wonder if it is to compensate for the current minor delays in processing kit.

Could well be, Trev ;)

I had four lenses picked up on the 13th. They got them next day. I've had nothing from them, no emails of any sort. First time using them so not sure what to expect. I'll give them 'til next week before chasing them and will update with anything significant..

That’s still within their quoted timescale.

I've not seen that. All I've seen is they say you'll get paid within 'days'.
I don't have an email to hand, but it says something to the effect that "have received your equipment and we will check it in the next one or two working days". Hope this helps. Have you checked your transactions? My last one, they never emailed me and I only found out that they were waiting for details from me by reading the transactions.

I suppose the length of time varies according to their workload.

They need a firm nudge!

Has been 8 days but just went in to my account and it says ready to pay. But no email received. I've given my bank details. We'll see how long they take to pay.

Yes, I had that for my last transaction. Payment was in the same day, though.

Generally they pay th same day you provide them with your bank details. I just sold some kit about 2 weeks ago. Took a day to get to their site, 5 days before they came back to me with an improved offer. Paid me the same day.

Doing better than me then. I have had no communication and have logged into the account and it has moved to the expired quote section lol.

This is why I only deal with physical shops
In all fairness, I not had much trouble with MPB. Frequently they've increased their offer to me. I've found that dealing face-to-face in shops (not that there are any near here) to result in far lower bids. As in everything, it pays to shop around.

Yes, money arrived same day. Other than being a bit slow to assess the gear I have no complaints.

Interesting different experiences.!
a collection courier is booked for today......selling a W/A lens for a good quoted price

fingers crossed :)

well-------not an auspicious start

DHL said ''pickup around noon''

then ''Your DPD driver Stuart won't be able to collect your parcel today as they cover a wide area on a tight schedule.''

Couriers eh..?

and Evri still haven't delivered an eBay package ordered on the 10th. :-(

and to add insult to injury, I get this email

''Sorry, we were unable to collect your parcel as it wasn't available when our driver arrived ''

the parcel was on the step at my FRONT DOOR....!!

It does have to be handed to DPD. They are not allowed to pick items up without anyone present. Unless they didn't knock at the door?
