Probably in the wrong section but it is about viewing Talkphotography.

Was having severe problems with Internet Explorer. Sometimes taking several minutes to download a page on this and other Forums. No real problems on non-forum sites though. Anyhow, got bloody sick of waiting and my PC freezing every time I tried to view a page. Things were ok if I set my Internet Options security to high but that buggered my Java Script settings (what ever they are) and I couldn't view my e-mails and stuff.

So, moved to Mozilla Firfox and what a difference. Pages load no problem and e-mails, ebay and stuff all work fine in other tabs.

Wondered if anyone else had the same/similar problems with IE and had any suggestions how to solve the.

Simplest to stick with Mozilla me thinks.

Rant over. Ta!!!!

Don't use IE ;)

Firefox also has colour management, which I don't believe IE has, so added bonus too ;)

Howdya use that??

I moved to Firefox a few months back having got thoroughly sick of IE and its endless glitches with no regrets and no problems until a few weeks ago when I seem to have a problem with Firefox "having a problem" and crashing out. Sometimes out of this site and sometimes out of Flikr when browsing. Still prefer it in just about every way to IE though.

I love Firefox, it has been my browser for a long time.

Firefox is great and the add-ons you can get are really helpful. Fxif is the best photography add on as it lets you click on pics and see the embedded exif info (as long as the pic has exif intact of course!).

Only FF3 has colour management, earlier versions don't :(

Ah! but I have a problem with the colour management. I'd turned it on and all was OK until I got to a page with lots of photos on, then I found when scrolling down the page with my mouse wheel it was very jerky past the images. Turn colour management off and FF3 scrolls as smooth as a baby's bottom.

So I now want a button so I can turn it on only when I need it, then off again.

I agree that firebox is a good browser, starting to crawl its way up on the amount of users using it.

The only thing i find which isnt really to do with firefox is some websites have'nt been coded with cross browsers compatibility, so sometimes run into mashed up sites!

What was the original question... ;)

I'm running IE 7 on Vista (yeah, I know... :cuckoo: )

No problems at all, pages load very quickly and I can access my companys VPN, which I can't do with FF - if IE is taking "several minutes" to download a page that FF displays in a few seconds then you have problems with your IE installation.
I assume you have cleared out your cache and saved paswords, cookies etc?

You don't say what OS you are using, but if you have XP you may be able to repair it without re-installing windows [SEE HERE ]

On the other hand you may be better off using FF...
