Mozilla Firefox

Looks like their download record attempt has completely clogged up their site.
I can't load any of the mozilla sites which are to do with FF3

LOVE FF. No idea why anyone bothers with Explorer....or outlook express!!

l have 3,500 shots on flickr, and admin a few groups, so all the scripts and extensions in FF are invaluable. They make life so much easier!

lf anyone here loves using the groups, but doesnt have many scripts, contact me in flickr and l'll give you the links to the best ones.

I love FF :love:wish I could use it at work, instead of IE, which I can't stand.

But I can't download FF3 atthe moment.......:bang:

Slightly off topic but does anyone use Thunderbird, is it worth moving away from Outlook? Experiences would be appreciated.

I did a mini switch from outlook to it - well I ran both at the same time, and I couldnt find the "My Server Requires Authentication" option anywhere! so gave up. Have found out since it is possible and I probably just missed it, but havent gone back to it to have another go yet. I quite like Outlook tbh.

Yeah I like Outlook too, (is this an admission of some deep seated pyschological problem:thinking:).

I'm curious about the anti-spam protection Thunderbird claims to have, which would be useful.

Mark, you can put FF on a pen drive and run it from the pen. We used to do that in collage "Another proxy" But make sure you ask your boss if it is okay first

Well i give up. I finally got to the last download page on their FF3 record attempt thing and the download link they give is for FF2 even though theres banners and adverts for FF3 all around it!:bonk:

Ive just downloaded and installed it :woot:

Cheers for the heads-up. Have downloaded from the source you've given.:thankyou:

It flies!!
Got my back button working and the colour management too.

Ok, something interesting! Can anyone who has downloaded FF3 go to Help>About Firefox and see what the last paragraph says.

Mine says
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

Which is a little odd as that would suggests the build date was 19/05/08 - which seems to be the same as the release candidate 2 version! :(

mmm FF3...... I like it and I've managed to turn the colour profile on too.

How you do that then Mark? What does it mean first? :D

Mines the same Jimmy, got it from filehippo.

Reading up a little more it seems that the final version of FF3 might not be any different from the previous release so it could be right. Seems a little odd though :(

Would be nice for them to give us a counter of some sort to see how many times it has been downloaded. Seeing that they're going for the most downloaded

I can't get on the FF site through the update link, the only FF page that I can get is for FF2.

I had that when I was using a BETA as well. Try using IE. I know... it hurt me too

Might be because the have not updated there webserver yet

Hi Guys, I'd also like to know how to select a colour profile

Sorry guys.... been busy.

I think Tolien has answered your question, but there's also another thread about it on this thread here

You need either these two entries in about:config to enable colour management:

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Gfx.color_management.enabled
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Gfx.color_management.display_profile

or to install the colour management addon. More information here.

Its official name is the "Smart Location Bar".
It doesn't use Google searches though

l just downloaded FF3. Lost all my flickr scripts becay=use it wont run Greasemonkey.

So l am back on FF2 until they catch up. Cannot live without my scripts.

Maddy I have enabled the option to force non FF3 compatible addons to run, which enables me to run Greasemonkey (which runs fine BTW).

Tolien, it searches google for me (as a last resort). If it cant find the location via my history or favourites, it does a google search.

If you push enter, or as part of the dropdown?

The latter definitely isn't default behaviour, and Fx2 did a Google "I'm feeling lucky" if the URL you entered didn't work.

Hmmm where's that option then Marcel, had a quick look and couldn't see it

Go to about:config and add the boolean option extensions.checkCompatibility, set to false.

Thats the puppy.

But when you do go to about:config, take a moment to chuckle at the warning :D

Just by typing a phrase into the address bar. If it doesnt give me a site, it takes me to a google search for my phrase

Screenie.....I typed in the phrase test bananas into the Awesomebar (Dont care what its official name is now, its teh awesomebar for me :p)

Now where did I leave my flame retardant overalls:D

Not sure I've worked Toliens advice out yet, how do I go about adding the boolean option extensions??? Or am I just toggling something that should already be there... it's late and my brain is fried from preparing for an audit tomorrow:bonk:
