I'm thinking of moving my website to a new host. At the moment I'm paying £126 p.a. to a local company which is OK, BUT I get a huge amount spam through it. They have diverted my emails through a gmail address which cuts out the spam but I feel this does not give a very professional result. People contact me thro my direct email address but get a reply from a gmail address.

I have contacted a big hosting company and they reckon for a lot less money they could host my site without having the spam problem.

Does anyone have any comments or suggestions as to how I should go about making this change? Are all hosting companies basically the same?

Don't know who you are currently with but Tsohost do a free migration for you if you don't want the hassle of doing it for yourself.

I would have recommended TSOHOST too but in the past few weeks I have been having terrible email spamming (undeliverable emails) on three email accounts at an average of a 1000 a day on each.

They've sorted it out now but are saying it's a Microsoft problem? and they had blacklisted my addresses. The problem was across two different domains.

I’ve switched from TSO Host to Siteground. My site is quicker, spends more time being available and Siteground did a free transfer.

I’m switching my sites from TSO to siteground. TSO hVr gone down hill quickly in terms of service and my VDS has never been very fast.

My photo site was switched last month and is much quicker. My commerce site will be moved in the new year.

I was going to see how tso went up to renewal last month. Haven't had any bother since the godaddy buyout of paragon group so renewed again.

Luckily they seem to be being run as a separate entity.

I have had no problems with TSOHost and have been with them for a number of years now.

Jeremy, Siteground have been excellent for a newbie like me.
Whilst i don't profess to having the best website, any queries I have had have been dealt with promptly and by someone that knows what to do, and can explain it to a novice.

To answer your question - not all hosting companies are the same - some are really good, and I'd put these chaps in that category.

Siteground here as well...get a static ip address..install wordfence plug in..you can also block any unwantd ip address at server level as well and over time this should get rid of your spam problem...siteground customer service response is top notch..

TSOHost is now purchased by godaddy so I have seen lots of problems with this host. I have moved my service to Webhost.uk.net offered free migration , support is great at a reasonable price.

@jerry12953 Who has control of the domain names, DNS etc.?

You or your current host?

Oh hi,

I didn't realise i had any more replies.......

My domains are scattered around I think but the main one is with 123-reg. So I was thinking of asking them to host my main site as well.

I see that Siteground has a good reputation.

Stay away from hosting anything on 123 reg...........siteground is the one you want..may have a referral offer for you.... will need to have a look
