Moving to a mirrorless camera

I keep talking myself in and out off mirrorless v good compact. I feel with mirrorless I will still be in the situation of having a couple of lenses and a bit (although less than with DLSR) of bulk.

At the moment I am veering towards something like a 2nd hand Sony RX100 3, which should just be in budget.

I think the rx100 could be a better option for you.
 
Is there anything else in the same sort of specification as the RX100 worth looking at ? sub £400 new or used
 
I got a Sony A6000 and it lasted about 2 months in my bag doing nothing lol

They're lovely little cameras but no match for a dslr quite yet

The AF precision just isn't there yet tbh.
 
Whatever you go for make sure you get your hands on it and that you are comfortable with it. My Canon DSLR fits my hands beautifully and I never have to look at the back to find a button. My Olympus EM5 ii is a great walk about and in some ways is much more capable than the DSLR (the I.S. is unbelievable) but even though I use it a lot I still have to fiddle around sometimes to find the right button. And BTW I did follow my own advice and tried several MFT bodies before going for the EM5

Though I like the idea of the RX100 (which has been mentioned as an option), when I tired one it was too small - it was OK for 1 handed 'snaps', but just felt wrong trying to hold 2 handed fro anything more deliberate.

Picked up the A6000 which is great - not as compact, but with the 16-50 powered down it fits in a coat pocket, and even in a bag with added 55-210, 50 f/1,8, etc it's small and light, just right for family holidays where I'll also get a chance to go for an occasional wander to take some photographs.
 
About 90% of my DLSR kit is now sold. So I now feel I need to now get out and try some cameras, I keep coming back to CSC for some reason, so would like to try a PEN EPL7, OMD EM5 mk1, A5000 and at a stretch an A6000. Apart from the A6000, I should be able to stretch to 2 lenses to start with.
 
Does Photoshop open Sony a6300 RAW files?

The lenses can be eye wateringly expensive, but get it with an XF 18-55 'kit' lens and you may well not need much else anyway! My battery seems to be lasting better than most, but I don't tend to take many shots in a day and it's usually in and out of the bag.

I've done the same in the last week. I always though the Nikkor 18-55mm kit lens was pretty sharp (for a kit lens anyway), but the Fujinon XF18-55mm absolutely blows it out of the water! I got mine from the Fuji refurb store and as far as I can tell it is brand new.
 
Reading this thread with interest, I'm starting to wish I'd done a little more research into mirrorless before buying the D7200 a couple of months ago...

That said, I do enjoy using the D7200, it's an excellent camera, but the smaller size of a mirrorless camera is a big draw.

I'm sure you'll love it. I've been using m43 for a few years now. But I've just bought a used fujifilm X-E1, 18-55 & 50-230 for £370, bargain. Just need to sell my m43 so I can fund a couple of primes....you don't "need" a panny 20mm do you?
