Hi all.....just registered and it looks like a very helpful community.

I am using a Nikon D70s, 18-55mm, 105mm Micro, 70-200mm, SB800. Also managed to get my old studio lights operational again so hopefully I can start getting some decent lighting effects. I have been using my old Nikon F90 up until 3 weeks ago so hope to motor on with some digital stuff now.

I have managed to get hold of a copy of CS2 and think that being able to get results without waiting for developing and printing will open a host of new avenues (never mind the costs associated with film!).

Interests....no particular area really....just love taking photos.

Hope to make new friends and maybe even join folks on some of your meets.

welcome Brains, dont forget we give you a small amount of free gallery space so you can upload and share some of your photos!

Hi, and welcome to the forums :) Hopefully we'll be arranging some meets soon - where are you located?

Welcome to the forum,
Just got my first studio lights out their box and havent a clue how the hell they work ... I may just well be the first to pick your 'Brains' :)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Located....North Wales....5 minutes walk from the beach.....5 minutes walk from Snowdonia National Park....I guess I have the best of both worlds!

Studio lights.....they should be relatively simple to set up and usually only wires from one light to the camera and one wire from one light to another (for a 2 head set up anyway). Unless you have an IR or RF setup. What type of set-up have you got? Do you have a flashmeter?

My lights have continuous lighting and flash on the same head. The nice thing about digital is that I can adjust white balance to compensate quite easily.

I was in Llangollen yesterday, didnt get as far as Snowdonia though Id like to visit sometime!

Dont mean to take over your welcome thread but, re: the lighting,
I got the Bowen esprit DX kit. I can fire the flash but seem to have dead modelling lights, the instructions are shall we say, minimal. The guy at W.E said everything was in the kit to get started but Im guessing Im going to need a flashmeter!
Going to have another mess around later ... the modelling lights are probably me!

Hi Brains, welcome aboard :)

 welcome brains.
